Transition Year students at Kilkenny College have organised a sponsored tractor run for this week in aid of two excellent causes.

The event takes place on May 8 and will raise money for the Leanne Pender (nee Kidd) Charity Fund and Pieta House. Leanne Pender (nee Kidd) was a past pupil of the school (Class of 2000), who passed away after a long illness in October 2011.

The run will begin at Byrne Transport in Gowran, meeting at 6.30pm and will end up back in Kilkenny College later that evening with an ETA of 7.30pm. The run is 16 kilometres in total, and will take around 45 minutes to complete.

The students are having a tractor run in the school for the second time as the Transition Years have a task to raise money over the course of the year for different charities as part of their programme.

The Tractor Run Committee would like to thank and acknowledge the help of Kilkenny Garda Community Policing Unit in organising the tractor run. Likewise they would like to express their thanks to Byrne Transport, Agco Finance and McCarthy Commercial Vehicles who have been very supportive.
