Launched by Environment Minister Phil Hogan at St Kevin’s National School in Laragh, County Wicklow, LeaveNoTraceSchools.org aims to teach learn life-long lessons that will enhance children’s respect, appreciation and enjoyment of the countryside.

Leave No Trace Ireland chairman Cormac MacDonnell urged primary-school teachers to avail of the resource. He said that not only does it engage children with a range of fun learning activities, but the lesson plans have been designed to link into the curriculum across a number of subjects.

Learning alongside their teachers, students can develop an appreciation of the impacts that people have had on Ireland’s natural environment and learn how to make good choices to protect it.
