North Kilkenny Business Award- “The Black Door” Johnstown was presented with an “Against the Wind Award” by Paul Cuddihy, Chairman Kilkenny County Council for resiliance in business and commitment to sourcing and promoting local artisan food and craft produce. 500Club Draw- The annual 500 club draw in aid of the costs and refurbishment of St Kierans Hall will commence in July. First two draws July and August on Friday night August 3rd.Prizes 1st 600euro, 2nd 250 euro, 3rd to 5th 100 euro, 6th 75 euro. 150 euro draw for paid up members. Tickets are on sale in Morrisseys and Sharkeys shops and from local sellers. Be in to win. All monies will be used on the hall which is a great amenity to the parish.
Active Retirement-All the arrangements are now in place for the visit to Mr and Mrs Sheedys Garden at Turtulla, Thurles on Thursday July 19th. and afterwards to a meal in the Horse and Jockey Hotel. The cost of the meal is 25 euro. All those travelling please assemble in the Church Car Park at 3pm.
Cemetery Masses-Mass will be celebrated in Donoughmore Cemetery on Tuesday July 24th at 7.30pm. If the weather is bad the venue will be St. Kierans Church.

Bus Eireann-Bus Eireann have threatened to end the bus service to Dublin stopping at Johnstown, Durrow and Abbeyleix. At present there is a shuttle service through these towns linking with Bus Eireann in Portlaoise. It is only on a TRIAL basis of 6weeks and needs to be fully utilised. The times are Johnstown to Portlaoise 8.40am;10.40;12.40;14.40;16.40;and 18.40. The times from Portlaoise to Johnstown 9.20am;11.20;13.20;17.20;and 19.20.
