U16 CHAMPIONSHIP-To win one championship in a grade in one season is a special achievement...To win two under-age championships in the same grade in the one day is an extra special achievement. Congratulations to our wonderful Village U-16 A and B squads as they powered their way to championship success last Saturday in Thomastown. The Village A squad powered their way to a much deserved victory over Rower Inistioge. The Village boys dominated this county final from the off as they showed skill and determination in bucketful’s, scoring a massive 2-22 from play throughout this encounter. Right throughout the field the Village had players who gave their all in pursuit of glory. To a man the Village performed heroically throughout with the defence constantly stifling the Rower attack. The mid-field was dominated by captain Luke Scanlon who drove and inspired his side to victory. The Village attack played with great gusto and movement. Well done to all the players and management team on a great championship victory!

Soon after the final whistle of the U-16 A county final sounded the Village B squad were warming up for a championship final encounter against O’Loughlin Gaels, opposition which defeated the Village a few months ago in the league. However the Village boys came out inspired and determined as they got off to a great start and had the ball in the net twice to hold a commanding half time lead. O’Loughlins came back at the Village strong and struck two 3 pointers in the second period but this momentum was quickly broken with a third goal from the Larchfield outfit.
