FREE ART PROJECT - a FREE creative art project for adults will begin on Wednesday, 20 February and will run for 3 Wednesday evenings. This project will involved working on a mural in Droicheád Childcare using all sorts of fabrics and textures to create a unique piece of work. To book a place please call 056 7755519, ext. 1.

MANY YOUNG MEN OF TWENTY - On Friday, 22 February the Kilquan players from Coan will come to Ballycallan Hall to stage their sell out show ‘Many Young Men of Twenty’ written by John B. Keane.

This is a story of emigration that is still true to life today and the Ireland that we live in. The play is funny and touching with a very professional cast. COMPUTER COURSE - a once off low cost Beginner’s Computer Course in Droicheád Family Resource Centre, Callan where people can learn to use the internet, email, Skype & basic digital photography etc.

Classes will cost €10 for 5 lessons. The course will be held on Tuesday evenings or Wednesday afternoons. Call 056 77 555 19 ext. 1 to book a place.

FUNDRAISING CONCERT - St. Lazerian’s House, Bagenalstown are holding a fundraising concert on Friday, 8 March 2013 at 7:30pm in Muinebheag Vocational School Sports Hall in aid of St. Andrew’s Church.

This will be their 5th year for concerts and they always like to have a variety of different themes and different performers. Following feedback from people who attend the concerts they have decided that the theme for this year is “Songs from the Musicals” and will feature songs from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Oklahoma, Sound of Music, Calamity Jane, Mamma Mia and many more. They are looking for performers who would like to join them on the evening and sing two songs from their favourite musical. Anyone interested should contact Marian Manning on 086 1258480. Tickets are €10 for adults and €5 for children and are available from Marian Manning or St. Lazerian’s House. Refreshments will be served in the hall after the concert. A great night is guaranteed.

CAR BOOT SALE - On Sunday, 24 March a Car Boot sale will take place in Ballycallan Hall from 11am until 2pm. Tables are €20 each. As tables in the hall are very limited there will be a charge of €20 to bring a clothes rail. For further enquiries or to reserve a table please call 087 7674045.

BIG THANKS - On Wednesday last, 6 February a Monster Whist Drive took place in Callan Parish Hall in Aid of Work in Kenya and Uganda for Father Philip O’Halloran of the Mill Hill Missionary. There was a large attendance a grand amount of 25 tables for the whist. On the night a total of €1514.71 was made between raffle, whist and donations.A big thanks to all who donated prizes, canvassed for prizes or supported in any way.

A special word of thanks to the Ladies in the kitchen who provided refreshments on the night. and a special thanks to all the players.
