Celebrating 175 Years - This year the Presentation Sisters will celebrate 175 years in our Parish of Bagenalstown. All are invited to come to the convent, especially past pupils, on Thursday, February 21 at 8pm so that planning can be put in place to mark this special occasion.

BALLYLOUGHAN GUILD ICA - Ballyloughan ICA will hold their next meeting in the Castle Hall, Ballyloughan on Monday, Feb. 18 at 8 pm. Guest speaker will be Dr Michael J. Conry, author and historian. CAMOGIE AGM - Ballinkillen Camogie Club will hold their annual registration on Wednesday, February 13 from 7-8pm at Ballinkillen Community Centre. Indoor training resumes for under 6, 8, 10 and 12 on Tuesday, February 26,with under 6 and 8 from 6.15pm -7.15pm and under 10 and 12 from 7.15pm to 8.15pm.

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE UPDATE – ALARM SCHEME - Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre is offering a Monitored Alarm Scheme for people over the age of 65 years. PENNY BANK - Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre Penny Bank is a great success and looking to increase the number of members; so if you have a little to spare and wish to save for Communions, Confirmations, birthdays, Christmas, no matter what the occasion, come on down to the Centre on Thursdays between 10 and 12.30pm or Friday in Deja Vu Charity Shop 10.30am to 11.30am and at the Centre from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
DÉJÀ VU CHARITY SHOP - This charity shop located in Main Street, Bagenalstown, supports the Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre. They are calling on the general public to get in and carry out their spring cleaning early! The shop accepts good quality clothing for men, women and children, also household bric-a-brac, so if you have any of the above and wish to donate them, the shop would be delighted to take them off your hands. You can drop them into the shop between 10am and 4pm or alternatively drop them down to the Centre between 9.30am and 5pm.
WOMEN’S CLUB - Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre’s Women’s Club has just got together and enjoy a range of activities every Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12 noon, so why not drop in and check it out. All ladies from the age of 21 yrs and over are welcome! ST. LAZERIAN’S FUNDRAISING CONCERT - “ Songs from the Musicals”. Please note that there is a change of venue from St. Andrew’s Church to Muine Bheag Vocational School Hall on Friday,March 8 at 7.30 pm. The concert will feature songs from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Oklahoma, Sound of Music, Calamity Jane, Mama Mia and many more. Tickets €10 adults. €5 children, available from Marian Manning or St. Lazerian’s House. Refreshments will be served in the hall after the concert.

KIERAN GOSS CONCERT - Following three sell-out concerts in Killoughternane with Niall Toner and Mick Hanley the hall is thrilled to announce that Kieran Goss is coming on April 12 to do a show. He is currently touring Austria, Switzerland and Germany where he is playing to packed venues and rave reviews. As a venue Killoughternane has few equals. It holds one hundred people and is a special venue for both audience and performers. It is expected that this event will be quickly sold out. PAPAL AWARDS - The 1st Bagenalstown Baden Powell Scout Troop sends its congratulations to the five Troop members who were among the group of young people from Bagenalstown parish to receive awards at the Pope John Paul 11 Awards ceremony at the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow on January 24. The awards were the culmination of much hard work and dedication on the part of the young people involved and great credit is due to all involved from our schools and Parish. The members of the Baden Powell Troop to receive awards were Liam Fitzgerald (Gold Award), Ciara Nolan (Papal Cross). Eoin O’Halloran (Gold Award). Jessica Kidd (Gold Award) and Paul Holligan (Gold Award). Well done to all the Bagenalstown awardees, priests, teachers and Parish staff.
