SPECIAL OLYMPICS - Special Olympics Ireland’s annual Collection Day, sponsored by Eircom, will take place throughout Ireland on Friday, 26 April, 2013. Volunteers will be needed in Kilkenny City to look after the collection points there. The Collection Day is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. The money raised on the day will be used to ensure that Special Olympics Ireland can continue to realise its promise of offering people with an intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in sport in their area.

BALLYKEEFFE CEMETARY - Kilkenny County Council is doing its best, within diminishing resources to continue to keep graveyards such as Ballykeeffe cemetery in a fair and reasonable condition. One of the biggest costs in the upkeep of any cemetery is clearing away debris such as old wreaths, plastic bottles and so on. Kilkenny County Council is requesting that in future people tending to graves in Ballykeeffe Cemetery bring home and dispose of appropriately their old wreaths and other general items. This would help them immensely in focusing available resources on general maintenance such as grass cutting and keep Ballykeeffe Cemetery as it should be, tranquil and litter free. Everyone’s co-operation with this request is greatly appreciated.
