Glenmore - James Lawlor Memorial race this Friday

St.JOSEPH’s - The annual James Lawlor memorial race is taking place on Friday evening at 7.15pm at the Pink Rock, Ballyverneen, Glenmore. This race is open to St. Joseph’s and United Striders members only. If you wish to enter please go come early and best of luck to all involved with the event.

CAMOGIE - The Glenmore camogie club are in full swing with the junior team having played two matches and winning both, the first against O’Loughlin’s and played in their home grounds and their second match on Saturday evening last against Danesfort in Danesfort. The Glenmore under-14 girls Feile Na Gael team have two wins under their belt with wins over St. Fiacra’s and Piltown which sees them into the semi final stage of this year’s competition which is due to be played this weekend. The under 6’s, 8’s and 10’s ,12’s, 14’s and 16’s and minor team are in full swing with their training and have benefitted greatly from the astro turf training which took place during the winter months in the very fine facilities at the Glenmore GAA club grounds in Ballinaraha. Best of luck to all the teams, trainers, mentors and players for the coming seaso’s matches.

SCHOOLS CAMOGIE - This year’s schools camogie team, with girls from the two National Schools of the parish, Ballyfacey and Glenmore have played their first match of the year when they played and won against Piltown in Pairc Na Ratha, Ballinraha recently. Their next match is due to be played in the coming days.

AGE FRIENDLY- The Kilkenny Age Friendly county programme are available to provide ‘’Ageing with Confidence’’. This 8 week workshop is a personal development programme and will be co-ordinated by two trained facilitors. This programme is FREE of charge, if you are interested please contact Moira at 056 7772787 for more details, if there is enough interest then a workshop will take in Glenmore.

RING - A- LINK- The rural transport initiative Ring A Link operates in this area on Wednesdays and Fridays and this brillant service will collect you at your doorstep and return you home on your return journey home. If you wish to be collected to go to Waterford please phone 1890 42 41 41. This service is of great value to persons who cannot drive or may find driving a challenge and with parking a costly expense the value you get from Ring a Link cannot be passed.

GAA - Well done to the Kilkenny minor and senior hurling teams on their recent wins last weekend. The Glenmore GAA club have members Liam Hennessy of Ballycroney and Alan Murphy of Ballyveria on this year’s minor hurling panel and Eoin Murphy of Ballyveria and Ger Aylward on the senior hurling panel and best wishes to all the lads in their matches.
