An easy and enjoyable way to get in shape and really enjoy yourself with Gaelic4mothers and others at Dicksboro GAA Club, Palmerstown on Tuesday nights from 8 to 9pm with trainer, Sean Keane. The emphasis is on fun and bring the children, they are more than welcome but no toddlers. For more information contact Helen on 087-6645823. Try it once and you won’t be disappointed.

COUNTY HURLING-Great to see so many Dicksboro players turning out for Kilkenny teams last weekend. Cillian Buckley marked his return from injury when he was brought on in the National League semi-final against Galway, scoring a point to help Kilkenny on their way to victory. Meanwhile, no less than five ‘Boro players started for Kilkenny in their Leinster Minor Hurling Championship match against Laois, a great achievement for any club, so well done to Darragh Holohan, Evan Cody, Robbie Fitzpatrick, Stephen Farrell and Kevin Kenny.

UNDER 16 HURLING- Our under 16’s set out their stall early in their league game against Slieverue last Friday with a point on the board in less than a minute. Three more followed before Slieverue raised a white flag from a 20 metre free. The source of the scores from both teams was a good indicator as to the way they were playing, 0-4 of Slieverue’s tally of 1-7 coming from frees whilst only one point of the ‘Boro’s tally of 2-8 came from a free in the first half. The ‘Boro were on top but more work needed to be down to stop the expected second half challenge. HT Dicksboro 2-8 Slieverue 1-7. The ‘Boro were even more emphatic in the second half, gaining control throughout the pitch and keeping our opponents scoreless for the half which was no mean feat as they had some very good hurlers. Panel: Oisin Gough, Evan Carroll, Cian Butler, Liam Kennedy, Aaron Malone, Aidan Nolan, Robert Crotty, Thomas Kenny, Chris Kavanagh, Kieran Ryan, Conor Doheny, Andrew Gaffney, Alan Phelan, Robbie Murphy, Bill Sheehan, Alan Corcoran, Brian Power, Cormac Buggy, Dara Lynch, Gavin Byrne, Panos Brennan, Edward Moylan(inj).

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL-This year’s under 14 Roinn ‘A’ Football County Final, played in Clara on Tuesday 16th April featured the same teams as the 2012 final, that is Dicksboro and Thomastown. While we held the upper hand at the end of last year’s final it was Thomastown’s turn this year, beating us by 1-9 to 0-6. The ‘Boro lads put in 100 per cent effort but were unable to break down the Thomastown defence when opportunities seemed to appear for goal chances, particularly in the first half. Panel: Kieran Galvin, Gavin Walsh, Johnny Minogue, TJ Stynes, Liam Stynes, Eoghan Moylan, Cillian Timmons, Joe Sheehan, Liam Brennan Smyth, Mark Nolan, David Campion, Sean Boyd, Jack Connolly, Justin Cahill, Brian Cleere, Eamonn Morrissey, Evan Clarke, William O’Sullivan, Tommy Farrell, Joseph Lacey, Tadhg Butler, Darren Mullen, James Griffin, Mark Kenny, Jack Tynan, Stephen Cass, Daire Maher, Nicky Burke, Bobby O’Mahony, Eoin de Buitlear.

HURLING FÉILE-The group stage of the Kilkenny hurling Féile will take place this Saturday. Our group consists of Piltown, James Stephens and Ballyhale Shamrocks and all our games will be held in Thomastown. Our first match is against Piltown at 11am, followed by James Stephens at 12md and Ballyhale at 1pm. Support for some or all of these games would be appreciated as only one team will come out of the group to play in a semi-final the following weekend.

Under 11/12-Well done to the ‘Boro under 11/12 mentors for organising a trip to Thurles to play a challenge match against Durlas Óg on Sunday. The busload of boys left Palmerstown full of the joys of spring in what was also a bonding session, to play their games before going to Semple Stadium to watch Kilkenny overcome Galway in the National League semi-final. A great day out.

UNDER 9/10-There was a great buzz around Palmerstown on Sunday morning when a group of enthusiastic hurlers from Kilmacud Crokes paid a visit to play a few challenge games against the ‘Boro boys. As usual both panels gave it their all in the spirit of fair play. The Kilmacud players, mentors and travelling parents were then invited into the clubhouse where they were treated to abundant light refreshments, courtesy of the ‘Boro parents, before travelling to Semple Stadium to watch the National League semi-final, which unfortunately did not turn out to well for our visitors team.
