On the day a ‘time capsule’ will be buried which will be opened in fifty years time. The idea is to bury items, pictures and artifacts that represent Bennettsbridge in 2013 and that will be interesting to those opening it in 2063. If anyone has any suggestions please contact a member of the Community Development Group.
The group would encourage different organisations in the parish to consider putting some item reflecting the interests of the individual group in the capsule.
They are also starting to plan for the Field day which is set for June 16th. There will be a special Field Day meeting on Tues 30th at 8.30pm, anyone who would like to get involved please come along.

HANDBALL - At the most recent meeting of Kilfane Handball Club, chairman Jim Kenny McGrath reviewed a very successful 40x20 season for the club, and congratulated all who represented the club on the national scene. Secretary Tom O’Keefe listed the five All-Ireland titles that returned to Kilfane in the space of eight days earlier this month. Rachel Hogan won singles and doubles titles in Ladies Junior, Dylan Caulfield won U16 doubles and most recently, Tom O’Keeffe and Tom Dooley won the Silver Master B Doubles title. The All Ireland titles came after earlier successes at county and provincial level, and treasurer Tommy Reddy said that this was a remarkable achievement for what is after all a 60x30 club.
Preparations are now underway for the 60x30 season, and planning has started for the running of the Hal Clarke Tournament. This competition is now regarded as one of the key competitions in the local calendar, and last year’s winner, Brendan Bourke, went on to appear in a final at the World Championship a few months later.
Painting of the alley takes place from 7pm on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th, and from 9am on Saturday 27th. The aim is to finish the job by 2pm on Saturday. If any club members or parents have a few free hours anytime during these slots, we would welcome all help.
