SHOW - The Ossory Agricultural Show Society Co Ltd held a meeting on Monday, March 24 at Meeting Rooms at the Show Grounds. Show Chairman Peter Ging welcomed everybody to the meeting and then declared the meeting open. Secretary Catherine Fitzgerald read out the minutes which was signed and seconded. Following classes: horses, sheep, cattle, knitting, sewing, baking, eggs, poultry, jam, crafts, vegetables, flowers, photography, junior classes, dog show, trade stand, music on show day and lots more. ST KIERAN’S ATHLETIC CLUB - Congratulations yet again to members of St. Kieran’s Athletic Club for an outstanding day at the Open Sports Day in Templemore on Sunday, April 7th. Matt Pietrzykowski, Ben Guilfoyle and Kealan Dermody all attended the event with Matt coming in 2nd in the U16 Boys 100m and 2nd in the long jump; Ben receiving 1st in the U16 Boys long jump; and Kealan taking home 3rd in the U11 Boys turbo javelin. Well done to all! Training continues behind Colaiste Mhuire on Wednesday evenings from 18:30-19:30 and on Sunday afternoons from 12:15-13:45.
KILKENNY COMMUNITY & VOLUNTARY FORUM - The South East Regional Drugs task Force (SERDTF), Kilkenny Community & Voluntary Forum and Kilkenny Leader Partnership are jointly organising a community consultation Seminar on the subject of substance misuse. The seminar will be on the morning of Friday 19th April 2013. The venue will be the Pembroke Hotel, 11 Patrick Street, Kilkenny from 9:30am to 1:30pm. A light lunch will be served. THE GATHERING - As part of The Gathering the parish of Graine and Urlingford are organizing a weekend of activities in August, full details to be finalised. One of these is to have an exhibition of photos in both Graine and Urlingford, which reflects the history of the Parish, and it’s people. We are looking for photos, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, photos of anyone who served in any of the wars or in the army. Any photos of Gardai, Priests or Doctors etc. If you do not want these photos to leave your home we can arrange for someone to call and copy them in your home. COMMUNITY ALERT - At this stage we have almost completed our visits to all households in our parish explaining how community text alert programmer works . To date the response is fantastic and most householders have joined up. At this stage we are in discussion with Kilkenny Gardai Head Office to iron out any teething problems we may have in operating this new system. We have called to all householders at this stage and most have joined this valuable new service. If for some chance we missed on meeting you can join our system by contacting secretary Dan Norton , John Cahill or John Hayde for forms to sign up. Shortly we will order new Text Alert signs which will be put up around the parish. In the meantime watch for rogue dealers or criminals driving about in our area.
