Each year, Cafe L’Arche in Callan holds charity fundraisers based around different nations’ traditional dishes.

So far, they have had an Indian, Hungarian, Tapas and a Japanese night, all of which were a great success. This year, Café L’Arche are having two fundraisers in April.

The first will be an Italian night in the cafe on Saturday, April 14 at 7.30pm. It will be a three-course meal, cooked by the cafe’s own cooks. The menu will consist of traditional Italian dishes and some of Cafe L’Arche’s wonderful desserts. The tickets are €22. Luke Brabazon (16) will climb Kilimanjaro in June in aid of L’Arche Kilkenny.

On April 21 at 7.30pm, Miho Oka will be cooking with her mother a buffet of traditional Japanese cooking in aid of the victims of last year’s Tsunami. Miho served some wonderful Japanese food last August for the same cause in Cafe L’Arche. The funds went to children in Nobiru Town in Higashi Matsushima City, which was badly hit by both the tsunami and earthquake.
