‘Corpus Christi’ Procession-The Diocesan Corpus Christi Procession will take place this year on Sunday June 24. The Procession will begin at St. John’s Church, Dublin Road, Kilkenny, at 2.30pm. and will proceed through the City to St. Mary’s Cathedral, to arrive approximately one hour later. A special word of thanks to all who took part in our local Precessions last Sunday and to all who organised them and served the cup of tea afterwards in Hugginstown.

Youth Summer Festival-The Knock Summer Festival is taking place on Saturday the July 21. This day will be full of talks, workshops, music, prayer and reflection. The theme for the day is ‘ONE’. Horticulture & Office Skills Classes-The Droichead FRC in partnership with Co. Kilkenny VEC’s Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) are currently accepting applications from all early school leavers interested in participating on the following FETAC Level 4 accredited programmes in Callan: (1) Horticulture (4M1994) and (2) Office Skills (4M2070). It is expected that both programmes will run in the Droichead FRC (from 9.30am-2.00pm for 2 days per week) over the September 2012-June 2013 period. FREE places are available on this part-time programme to applicants with Junior Certificate standard of education. Priority for places will be given to those in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance and/or Job Seekers Benefit. An Information/Registration Session is scheduled to take place in the Droichead FRC on Tuesday, June 19 at 9.30am. Field Day-The Bennettsbridge Community Development Group and the GAA are jointly holding a Field Day in Bennettsbridge on Sunday. June 24 from 2.pm. to 5pm Lots of Fun for all, Wheel of Fortune, cake sales, raffle, fire engine display, novelty games for all ages, games to test your sporting ability and strength! children’s athletics, face painting, Hurling and Camogie blitz’s, Dog Show, live music, teas/coffees, A major attraction is the Centra Hurling Simulator hired from Croke Park for the day and for its first time in Kilkenny - will test your hurling skill!
