Ballyhale: Support golf class in aid of “Ace” team

Southend United - Activity is starting to ratchet back up for the local soccer club as they prepare for a new season. One of the most important activities is the now long-running Annual Golf Classic – in its 16th year. This will take place this coming weekend in Mountain View Golf Course on Friday and Saturday. There will be loads of prizes for both GUI and Non GUI Golfers (over €3000 worth!). Teams of four cost the usual €200, which includes a steak dinner! First prize is a trip to a Man Utd. home game this Autumn! Entries are still being taken by Andy O’Keeffe at 056 7768649 or Mountain View at 056 7768122. Handicaps are Men 20, Ladies 28. This is probably one of the last Golf Classics of this very changeable summer (many were unfortunately cancelled) - so if you are not already entered why not put a team together for this one?

Kilkenny Tickets -That is what the concentration will be on for the next two weeks. Fully paid-up club members have some chance of a ticket in the club draw. Everybody should be asking everyone they know, especially outside the county – the further flung the better! At the end of the day nearly everyone who is serious about getting to Croke Park does get there – as both Galway and Kilkenny players might testify!

Camogie- The Club Intermediate team have made it through to the Intermediate League semi-final, after a hard fought battle last weekend. The very best of luck to them in the Final! Hard luck to the U12 team who were narrowly defeated by two points in the U12 Final which was played in Mullinavat over the weekend.

School - Unbelievably the start of another school year is upon us. The best of luck to all students but especially those attending the National School for the first time and to those who are making the transition from Primary to Secondary!

Congratulations - Happy Birthday to Nicola Coogan (Coolmore), Gavin Butler (Cotterstown), Enda Fitzpatrick (Knockmoylan) and Shamrocks fan Isabel Doody (Inistioge) – all of whom recently celebrated their birthdays. Birthday wishes to all those who have celebrated theirs also.
