Liam and Millie Celebrate in Style - Congratulations to Liam and Mildred (Millie) Brennan, Pickettstown, Tullaroan whocelebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday last. The day commenced with Mass celebrated by Rev. P. Guilfoyle P.P. in the Church of The Assumption, Tullaroan,where their family and a very large gathering of guests attended. They then returned to their daughter and son’s in law house at Rathealy where a Marque was erected where they enjoyed a beautiful meal and the festivities continued until the early hours. Liam and Millie are wished continued health and happiness for the future.
Alzheimer’s Association - A facilitated support group, for carers of people with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. Providing a safe space for information exchange, emotional and practical support and the opportunity to network with other carers in similar positions. Discussion topics may include behaviors which challenge e.g wandering, aggression, repetitive behavior. Kilkenny V Galway All Ireland Tickets - The draw for tickets will take place on Friday at 8pm in the club rooms. All members are asked to attend and if unable to please send someone to represent them. A bus will leave Tullaroan Village at 9am on All Ireland Sunday and anyone wishing to travel are asked to contact John Connolly. All children travelling have to be accompanied by an adult.
DEEP SYMPATHY- The death took place on 24th August of Mrs. Catherine Walsh, Coon. Catherine was mother or Eugene Walsh, Rathealy and Elizabeth Maher, Courtstown, Tullaroan and also mother in law of Ann Walsh, Coon formerly Ann Maher, Rathmacan, Tullaroan.
Hurling - The under 10 Pat Molloy Memorial Tournament will take place on Sunday 2nd September in the Tullaroan sports grounds. Four teams will take part, Tullaroan, Graigue/Ballycallan, Galmoy and John Lockes. This tournament is kindly sponsored by the Molloy Family, Ardabawn, Tullaroan. The U14 hurling team bowed out of the championship on Monday evening last losing to Slieverue on a scoreline of Tullaroan 2-16 to Slieverue 5-10.Team: Joey Walsh, Joe Coughlan, Kevin Maher, Simon Lanigan, Adam Tallis, Martin Keoghan, Bobby Cummins, Tommy Walsh, Sean Buggy, Patrick Lawry, John Dooley, Dylan Simpson, Tommy Walton, Bill Gaffney, Tomás Dunne, Jack Keogh, Richard Cass, Noel Breen, David Fitzgerald.
Hogan Cup Tournament - Graigue/ Ballycallan defeated Dicksboro in the Hogan Cup Tournament held in the Tullaroan sports grounds on Sunday evening last. The cup was presented to Eddie Brennan, Captain Graigue/ Ballycallan team by Eamon Teehan, son in law of the late Tom Hogan and the trophies which were kindly sponsored by John and Joan Connolly, Publicans were presented by John. A big thanks to both teams for taking part in the tournament.
Family Field Day- Tullaroan family field day will take place on Sunday 2nd September commencing at 1pm in the Tullaroan sports grounds. There will be lots of activities for all ages. Donations of unwanted gifts, boxes of sweets/ biscuits, bottles etc. would be very much appreciated and can be dropped into Delaney’s shop, Tullaroan Village.
Tractor Run- A Tractor Run will be held on Sunday 2nd September on the roads of Tullaroan. Regristration starts at noon in the sports grounds for a 1.30pm start. Entry €20.00 which will include refreshments afterwards.
Joint Birthday Celebrations - Lily O’Dea and her twin brother Tommy Molloy celebrated a very special birthday along with their family and friends in Connolly’s Lounge on Saturday last. Tommy who resides in Manchester, England came home for the occasion. Tommy who is an avid Kilkenny hurling supporter is looking forward to the All Ireland which he will be watching in Manchester.
Hurlers Co op Draw - Congratulations to Paddy O’Neill, Lisnalee who won €200.00 in the hurlers co op draw. Paddy’s son Seamus was home from New York where he spent sometime with his family in Lisnalee recently.,
Quiz Night - The Kilkenny supporter’s quiz night will be held in Connolly’s Lounge, Tullaroan on Thursday 30th August at 9pm sharp where the questions will be transmitted by K.C.L.R. Teams of four €20.00 and all monies raised will to to the Kilkenny hurling training fund. Your support would be very much appreciated.
Renewal and Responsibility - The Diocese of Ossory, Lismore and Waterford are offering an opportunity to explore the responsibility we all have within our Church communities.
