Well done to Cillian Buckley, Ollie Walsh, Martin Gaffney and extended panel members, David Glynn and Danny Kenny on their achievement of reaching an All Ireland Final. Cillian, of course, is also a member of the Kilkenny Senior panel that will play Galway in the All Ireland Final.

Underage Squads- Congratulations to all our underage members who have been selected on the various Kilkenny panels who will all be playing in tournaments this weekend. Chris Kavanagh, Edward Moylan, Evan Carroll and Cian Butler have been selected on the County panel for the Tony Forristal Tournament. The competition takes place in Waterford on September 1 and 2 with the finals at Walsh Park. Twelve teams, split into four groups of three, will compete for the trophy and the top team in each of the groups will advance to the semi-finals. Kilkenny, Limerick, and Tipperary are drawn in group one, while Dublin, Wexford and Offaly are in group two. The host county are in group three with Laois and Cork, while Clare, Galway and Antrim are in group four. The first Kilkenny match will take place in St. Saviours GAA at 11am. Corey Cahill has the honour of being the Captain of the Kilkenny under 16 team that will contest the Arrabawn (Tipperary Supporters Club Tournament) Hurling Championship. Kilkenny’s first match in this competition will be in Buckane (Kildangan GAA Club outside Nenagh) at 10.30am on Saturday against Wexford and the second match will be against Cork at 12.30pm. Paddy Cahill would have been travelling to Cork with Evan Cody and Stephen Farrell to play in the Eugene Carey Memorial Tournament on Saturday, but for injury. The venue for this tournament is Mallow GAA grounds and Kilkenny’s first match against Limerick is set for 12.30pm followed by a game against Tipperary at 2pm. The Kilkenny North Under 15 squad that travels to Ferns, Co. Wexford for the Michael Foley Tournament was not announced at the time of sending in the notes but we would be hopeful of having a representation on that squad also. The first match for this team is at 12pm. Good luck to them all.

Tom Hogan Cup-Our senior’s were defeated by Graigue/Ballycallan by 0-20 to 0-12 in the final of the Tom Hogan Memorial Cup held in Tullaroan on Sunday. This is an annual tournament run by the Tullaroan Club to honour this great Gael and this year’s trophies were sponsored by John and Joan Connolly.

Under 14 Roinn ‘A’-Our Roinn ‘A’ team had a very comprehensive victory over James Stephens last Tuesday in our first match in the championship, winning by 6-15 to 0-5. There are only four teams in the Roinn ‘A’ Championship this year and it will be run off as a league with the top two teams contesting the County Final, whilst the bottom two teams will play off a Shield Final. The teams involved are the four city teams and Conahy Shamrocks.

Under 14 Roinn ‘C’- It turned out to be a bad week on the hurling field for our Roinn ‘C’ under 14 team as we exited the championship a few days ago and lost this League Shield Final against O’Loughlin Gaels. O’Loughlins were making most of the running in the first half and were up by 1-5 to 0-3 after twenty seven minutes but a late rally from the ‘Boro boys brought the HT score to Dicksboro 1-4 O’Loughlin Gaels 1-5. O’Loughlins maintained the pressure at the start of the second half, adding 1-1 within five minutes and the ‘Boro always seemed to be playing catch-up. Despite this, we came back at O’Loughlins and after thirteen minutes there was only a point in it again in the Gaels favour, 2-6 to 2-7. O’Loughlins replied with 1-3 without reply in a deadly three minute spell for the ‘Boro before we added two points to our score. This was, however, soon cancelled out with another Gaels goal. O’Loughlins were now in a commanding position going into the last ten minutes of the match but they were knocked from their comfort zone when the ‘Boro netted twice on the twenty fifth and sixth minute to make it a two point margin between the sides. It remained like this up to the twenty ninth minute when O’Loughlins found the ‘Boro net again and another point within a minute sealed our faith. Panel: Eamonn Morrissey, Tadhg Butler, Kieran Galvin, Sean Foley, TJ Stynes, David Ryan, David Campion, Jack Condren, Liam Stynes, David Delahunty, Eoghan Moylan, Liam Brennan Smyth, Gavin Walsh, Brian Cleere, Charlie Buckley, James Griffin, Padraic Moylan, Evan Clarke, Sam Kenny.

Under 12’s- The entire Under 12 panel attended at Nowlan Pk last Saturday to play their final games in the Go Game series against Danesfort. Both clubs had two teams and we were treated to some very skilful and entertaining hurling. The hurling match was followed by ten minutes of football and each player received a hurley grip to finish off an enjoyable day. The under 12 (born 2000) panel have a busy weekend ahead as they travel to the Erin’s Own tournament in Cork on Saturday and on Sunday the entire panel (born 2000 and 2001) will be in Larchfield and Nuncio Road for the James Stephens Andy Egan blitz- good luck to all concerned .

Speedy Recovery-All at Dicksboro GAA Club and the extended community wish Joe Phelan a speedy recovery from his recent sudden illness. Joe is the club’s Grounds Chairman and a pivotal member of the club.
