ROCK CLIMBING - The South East Mountain Rescue team in association with Tyndall Mountain Club and Mid Tipp Hill walkers will give a demonstration in Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre’s rock face between 2pm and 5pm on 1 and 2 September. Join many rock climbers from home and abroad on the rock face. Take the opportunity to try rocking climbing for the first time with experienced tutors or just sit back and watch this challenging sport. Saturday’s schedule has an amazing 100 routes to the top varying in difficulty from Diff to E3. A barbecue will be held at 7pm. On Sunday, 2 September while the brave hearted are clinging to the rock face those who come to support or watch can relax and listen to the 40 strong North Rhine Wind Youth Orchestra at 2:30pm.
EMPOWERING PARENTS - DESSA are hosting an Empowering Parents training course for parents of disabled children who would like to meet with a group in a similar situation and learn to be a more effective voice for their child. This Empowering Parents programme seeks to support parents who which to acquire the knowledge and skills to effectively advocate on behalf of their child and will run over a 6 week period. CHILDCARE FACILITY - Enrolment is on-going for the Autumn term in Droicheád Childcare, Callan. Free pre-school places are still available. Children between 3 years and 3 months and 4 years, 10 months, may be entitled to 5 free mornings or afternoons under the ECCE Scheme. Anyone planning on returning to education in September 2012 may be entitled to substantially reduced childcare fees under the Childcare Education Training Scheme (CETS). Those receiving a social welfare payment or in possession of a medical card may be entitled to childcare fees under the Subvention scheme. RELAY FOR LIFE - Relay for life is coming to Kilkenny. This is a very special 24 hour journey where hundreds of people gather together for an overnight community celebration of a unique, empowering and fun event. At the heart of Relay is the opportunity to celebrate Cancer Survivors and remember those who have departed this world because of it. People who have been touched in any and every way by cancer are invited to join in the celebration. Relay for Life in Kilkenny will be held on Saturday 20 July and Sunday 21 July, 2013 at Scanlon Park, Kilkenny. The Relay for Life group are recruiting teams of volunteers who will walk around the track in relay, for 24 hours, because cancer never sleeps!! Otherwise team members are free to socialise, have fun and enjoy the fun packed day and entertainment.
