The annual Loreto Miss First Year talent competition was held in the school gym in Loreto Kilkenny on Friday, October 19.

After some outstanding performances and much deliberation, Lolley Sinyan was crowned Miss First Year 2012.

The talent contest is organised every year by the sixth years. After many auditions held at lunch time, the six finalists performed in front of the whole school.

The standard this year was very high. The finalists were: Aimee Cummins, Muireann O’Connell, Caoimhe Reid, Meabh Ruane, Lucy Shiel and Lolley Sinyan.

Sixth year student Shauna Scannell, who was the winner of Miss First Year 2007, delighted the audience with her winning poem from five years ago. There was plenty of entertainment at the interval from the sixth years, including a singing performances from Feibhar Baldwin-Wall.

After their deliberations, the judging panel announced Lolley Sinyan sas the winner. Lolley, who was a very popular winner, had sung a stunning version of the Leonard Cohen song ‘Halleluia’.

The entire afternoon was a really enjoyable school event. Well done to the sixth years on their great organisation of the event and congratulations to all who took part.
