UNDER 21 TEAM RECORD GOOD VICTORY - A very well taken goal, by full forward Danny Lenihan, sealed victory for O’Loughlin Gaels over a hard working Emeralds outfit in well maintained Pairc Lachtain, Freshford last Sunday morning in round 1 of the Roinn A Under 21 hurling Championship. Leading by six points at the break 1.10 to 0.7, the city boys seemed to step off the gas a little in the second half and the Urlingford lads pegged the difference back to just two with five minutes remaining. The returning from injury Lenihan then gathered the ball on the forty, beat three defenders and placed a lovely ball into the side of the goal. That put the game beyond Emeralds. O’Loughlins will be happy with their performance but will not be able to switch off against better opposition. Good to see good players returning like Anthony Forristal and Danny Lenihan. Next up they will play a quarter final game against the winners of Clara and Barrow Rangers .

UNDER 14S LOSE OUT IN LEAGUE FINAL DECIDER - Hard luck to the O’Loughlin Gaels Under 14 team who lost out to a much bigger Dicksboro team in the League final played last Saturday in St Johns Park. The two teams also met in the championship decider which had to go to a replay which the Boro also won. Seventeen of the O’Loughlins panel of twenty four are underage again next year and one feels there are many exciting prospects in this bunch. A couple of years growth will see the proof of that.

UNDER 16S IN LEAGUE SEMI FINAL REPLAY - The O’Loughlin Gaels Under 16 team will play Dicksboro in a second replay of their League semi final on Saturday 10th of November in Clara at 1.30. The original match was played on the 13th of July in terrible conditions and finished level on a scoreline of 1.8 a piece. In fact the score didn’t do the game justice as it was a brilliant game. The replay was played on the 26th of July in Johns Park and the sun was splitting the stones. After a classic game finished level extra time was played which also couldn’t separate the teams. So now we have a second replay with the winners set to meet James Stephens in the final on November 17th.
