Kilmacow: Fashion extravaganza in the community centre this Friday

Fashion Extravaganza- Kilmacow Playground Committee and Kilmacow Community Centre Committee will jointly host a Fashion Extravaganza in the Community Centre on Friday next, 11th November.

Fashion Extravaganza- Kilmacow Playground Committee and Kilmacow Community Centre Committee will jointly host a Fashion Extravaganza in the Community Centre on Friday next, 11th November.

The evening will commence at 7.30pm with a wine reception in the Barrow Room and the fashion show itself will commence in the Main Hall at 8.00pm. The evening is being coordinated by Charlotte Lowe and will showcase the latest fashion form a variety of retail outlets.

Tickets cost €15 for an adult and €5 for children. All funding will be in aid of the Children’s Playground Project and the maintenance of the Community Centre in Kilmacow. All support welcome.

Pioneers-Annual Dinner Dance The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association will hold its annual dinner dance in the Rhu Glen on Friday, 18th November.

Eigse Sliabh Rua-The official opening of Eigse Sliabh Rua will be performed by Damian Tiernan, the RTE South East Correspondent, at 8.00pm on Friday next, 11th November. The opening lecture entitled ‘The History of the Ordnance Survey in Ireland’ will be presented by Richard Kirwan, former National Director of the National Survey Office.

Richard, who lives in Kilmacow is the author of the book ‘If Maps Could Speak’ an absorbing account of the Ordnance Survey in Ireland interwoven with his own recollection of his life in Waterford and Dublin and which is imbued with the strong sense of place which is at the heart of the Irish sense of identity.

Schoolboy Soccer-Kilmacow Schoolboy Soccer Committee have organised a new schedule of training for the coming Winter months. Members of the 6-9 year old squads will train in the Community Centre and members of the Under 11B and Under 14 panels will train at the Sports Complex on The Farm. The panels for Under 11A and Under 12 will train in Carrigeen. These arrangements will continue for the next three month.

Quiz-Kilmacow Town Twinning Table Quiz. Kilmacow Town Twinning will host a table quiz in the Fox’s Den at 9.00pm on Monday, 14th November. The cost per table of four is €20. All support welcome.

Senior Citizens Bazaar- Kilmacow annual Senior Citizens Bazaar will be held in the Community Centre, Kilmacow at 2.00pm on Sunday, 20th November. All the usual attractions will be there. All support welcome.

Upcoming events for December-The Christmas Party, with music by Brass& Co. will be held in the Community Centre, Kilmacow on Friday, 2nd December and the Christmas Fair will take place at the same venue on Saturday, 10th December. Contact the Community Centre at 881984 for details and bookings.

Point to Point a Great Success-Well done to all involved in organising the Point to Point at Dunphy’s Field on Sunday last. A glorious day, a large crowd, great organisation and competitive racing made it a most enjoyable event.

Litter Management Plan-Kilkenny County Council has published its draft Litter Management Plan (2012-2014). The Council is seeking comments suggestions and observations on the plan. The plan is available from the Environment Section of the Council, the Area Office in Newrath and at all local libraries. The deadline for submissions on the plan is Friday, 18th November. Submissions are to be made to the Environment Awareness Officer, Environment Section, Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, Kilkenny.

Lotto-The winning numbers in last week’s lotto were 1,2,20 and 28. There were five Luck Dips. The Jackpot for next Thursday night is €12,600.
