Durrow: Kiddies disco planned for Patrick’s weekend

Lotto - The parish lotto with a jackpot of 4,900 euro was not won in the first draw after Christmas, small winners were 30 euro Peadar Lennon, 25 euro Robbie Dempsey and 20 euro James Joyce . The lotto of January 21 will be held in the Dec’s Bar with a possible jackpot of 5,200 euro. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot. IFA - A meeting of Durrow IFA will be held in the Presentation Centre on Thursday January 24,2013 at 8 pm. Guest speaker on the night will be Paul Delaney, county tillage chairman. Also present on the night will be County Chairman Pat Hennessey. Please make a special effort to attend this meeting.

Tickets for the Annual County IFA Dinner Dance are available from the committee . the Dinner Dance will be held on Friday night January 25 in the Manor Hotel Abbeyleix. All are welcome to attend both events

Whist -The Killermogh Parish next Whist Drive will be held in the Parocial Hall, Cork road, Durrow on January 24,2013 at 8 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Fishing - Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers held their Annual General Meeting in Durrow Inn on Friday night January 4,2013. It was well attended. The following officers were elected for the coming season.

In competition for this season the weigh-master decision is final. No farm trout allowed to be weighed-in in competitions.

The club wish to thank everyone who supported them in the past year and they wish everyone a healthy and peaceful new year.

The first competition of the season will be held on Sunday January 20,2013 for the Brendan Sheeran Memorial Cup and it will be a pike competition. All members will receive a “Text” with full details of this competition in the coming week. All members are asked to sell Lotto tickets each week as this is an important source of revenue for the club

St. Patrick’s weekend - Durrow Development Forum open the St. Patrick’s Weekend with a children Disco in the CYMS hall from 5-7 pm on March 16. The 17th will open with a huge open air market with loads to see and buy. A “Rewed” up parade at 3 pm with no restriction on vehicle type ( other than no HGVS) , Motorised or non Motorised its up to you but this year in celebration of the “ Gathering” we want it to be the best parade in years. We urge all local business, clubs, originations, playgroups, schools to get involved and make the parade a great event for all the locals and visitors.

Daffodil’s - With over 40,000 daffodils planted on the entrances to the town Durrow should look very well in late spring with a host of golden daffodils. Community Council - Durrow Community Council are holding a table quiz in Dec’s Bar on Saturday January 26 at 9.30 pm. Quiz master is David Finnegan. Table of four 40 euro. Your support would be greatly appreciated as all proceeds goes to the senior citizens party on March 2.

The senior citizens party will be held in the Castle Arms Hotel on Saturday March 2 at 2 pm. invitations will be distributed this week and anyone who wishes to come or nominate someone please contact any member of the committee.

Tidy Towns - A meeting will be held in Cullohill Community Centre to discuss the reviving of Cullohill Tidy Towns on Friday January 18 at 8 pm. everybody interested are invited to attend and anyone with new ideas are also asked to come and let everyone know their opinions. All are welcome to attend
