In Kilkenny, Kilkennyweather.com has predicted similar local conditions - and the chance of snow this weekend. Heavy rain tonight and tomorrow - with it turning very cold in Kilkenny on Friday night with a chance of sleet and snow on Saturday and Sunday.

Road users tonight (Thursday) face heavy rain accompanied by strong to near gale force and gusty southeasterly winds and may turn to sleet and snow later tonight and towards dawn. Leinster will be most at risk with further snowfall on Friday with accumulations likely on higher ground.

Temperatures are set to drop over the weekend with highest daytime temperatures ranging from 1 to 6 degrees.
