Danesfort - Coffee morning and cake sale for Chernobyl kids

HELPING CHERNOBYL CHILDREN - A Coffee Morning and Cake Sale will be held on Easter Sunday next in theDanesfort Community Centre after 10.15am Mass. Proceeds from this event will go to the Burren Chernobyl Project. This Charity was established in 1993 to help child victims of the fallout from the Chernobyl reactor explosion. Many projects have been carried out to assist the children and their families who are enduring the effects of exposure to radiation and the other social and economic problems facing them in Belarus. These include both medical and building projects. Roseanne Walsh of Sevenhouses Cross will travel with a group to Gorodishche ‘Internat’ (asylum) to help out. The Asylum is home to 220 children and young adults who are aged between 4 and 25. Gorodishche isa remote village a little over a two hour drive south west of the capital of Belarus, Minsk. All are welcome to attend and please spread the word. There will be lots of fresh bakes on sale and plenty of raffle prizes to be won. Thank you for your support.

FASHION - St Michaels National School Danesfort wish to thank everyone who supported their ashion Show, which was held to raise funds for the new building fund. A donation will also be given to St Patricks Centre Kells Road. The Fashion Show was a great success, with Langtons Ballroom full with local members of the community, models, make up people, hair stylists. A big thanks must go to the hard working committee who gave their all the last few weeks to ensure this night happened. Thanks must go to the shops Mimi, Sugar Sugar, frank wall, Swamp,Annaleens, Carraig Donn, Paco, Prada, Vila and Graham Shoes. Also thanks must go to Edward Hayden for his brilliant job on M.C. Seamus Brophy, the Big Fella for lighting, Billy Murphy for sound. Langtons for their help on the night, Marie Hutchinson for her help backstage, Sam Marcella for her facebook promotion. Well done to all who won prizes.

PARENT AND TODDLER- Danesfort Parent and Toddler group will meet together again from, Monday April. 8 at Danesfort Community Centre, 10.30 to 12.30 p.m. New members are always very welcome, toddlers enjoy activities, arts and crafts, action songs and weather permitting a toddler walk in the nearby walking track. The group are delighted to welcome Nicola Murphy of Forever Living , an aloe vera based health and beauty products. Nicola will give a product and information presentation on Mondays 8 and Monday April 15.

LOTTO - Danesfort GAA & Parish Development Lotto draw Results Week 23. Draw took place in Delaney’s Kells on Monday March 18. The Jackpot was €500. The Numbers Drawn were 19 - 12- 28. There was no winner. Five Consolation Prizes of €30: Fiona Drennnan, Tony Tierney, Joan Moore, Danny Sheridan, Brian Hutchinson. Two Promoters Prizes of €20: Tom Mahony, Alice Mahony. Congratulations to last week’s winner, Seamus Hurley who collected his Jackpot Cheque. Next draw Monday March 25 in Sheridan’s Ennisnag, Jackpot €600 and then in The Grange Inn on Monday April 1.

TRAINING - Churchill N/S, Cuffesgrange are hosting their 2nd 10k race and 5 k fun-run on May 12. It was a great success last year and again we invite all members of the community to take part. Due to the fantastic response and enthusiasm generated by the training sessions last year we are getting ready to dust off the cobwebs and go again. We have more athletes this year to take on the training at every level so no excuses all are welcome. Training will started on Monday March 11 and will continue for 8 weeks, the training times are on Monday and Thursday morning at 9.45am. and Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6.30 pm. We will meet in Kilkenny rugby club car park and there is a nominal fee of €2 which will go to Churchill N/S. KARATE - Danesfort Karate Club For boys and girls, aged between 4 and 12 years old every Tuesday from 6pm - 6:45pm in Danesfort Community Centre. The club is now looking to add to its membership. Anybody interested in enrolling their children for karate contact Kevin 086 3668669.

BINGO - Bingo is held each Wednesday in Danesfort Community Centre at 8.30pm. For newcomers, there is plenty of car parking available and a bus service operates each week from Kilkenny City. Contact: 086 8825821.

YOGA - The next yoga sessions will commence shortly. If you have not been with us before and would like to join, please contact us. New members are always welcome. The class is every Tuesday in Danesfort Community Centre 10.00am. Classes are given by qualified instructor Sadhbh O’Neill. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - A Basic Digital Photography Course will take place on Monday, April 8 from 10am – 12pm in the Bridge Resource Centre Callan. The course will run for 4 Mondays and will cost €30. The centre is also running a Once off low cost beginner’s computer course: Learn to use the internet, email, skype & basic digital photography etc. Classes will cost only €10 for 5 lessons.
