Tickets cost €10 and the much needed funds go towards Scoil Bhríde National School, Goresbridge. Tickets are available from the committee of the Board of Management and the committee of the Parent’s Association. Please support this fundraiser, it promises to be a great social night out.

A GREAT SUCCESS - The committee of Goresbridge Rural Development would sincerely like to thank all of you, householders, farmers, businesses that contributed to the scrap metal collection, it was a great success and amazing to see the huge quantity of metal that was dropped off. Thank you to Kevin Hosey, Manager at Glanbia for allowing the use of the yard and to the staff who were a great help on Saturday morning and a special word of thanks to Malcolm, Matthew, Shay and Paul, (Fás and Tus) who worked incredibly hard collecting, lifting and carrying over the couple of days.

HISTORY TOUR - Barrowvale Local History Group will take a trip to Dublin on Thursday June 6. They will do a tour of Croke Park, Dublinia – Viking Museum and the Chester Beatty Library, the group has also accepted an invitation to visit the Mansion House. They will stop for a meal on the way home, it sounds like a great way to spend a day. You don’t have to be a member of the history group to go on the trip, all are welcome. SPLIT THE POT RESULTS - Mary Purcell Killure was the winner of €165 this week, Kathleen Brennan, Ballyellen won €20 and Linda Nolan c/o Spar won €20. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all who play and the businesses that promote the draw. It was a busy week for our Fás and Tus team, flowers and shrubs planted in pots, flower beds, a dis-used house on the Gowran road was painted. Thank you also to Helen, Valerie, Ann, Dee, Ann, members of the community garden group that helped plant the summer bedding.

HERITAGE WEEK - Heritage week will take place from 17- 25 August and as usual Barrowvale Local History Group will hold an exhibition, this year they are focussing on the Bi-Centenary of the Church of the Holy Trinity and St. George’s Church. As part of The Gathering they will be displaying family histories, if you would like to get involved and display your own family history showing photographs etc you are invited to a meeting of Barrowvale Local History Group on June 12 in Ionad Dara at 8pm.

PARISH PILGRIMAGE - The Parish Pilgrimage to Knock takes place on June 8. The bus will leave from Paulstown Church Gate at 7.15 sharp. The cost is €18 for adults, €10 for children. There will be a box provided for petitions in the main porch of both churches for the next two weekends for anybody unable to travel on this pilgrimage.

TEXTILE COLLECTION - Goresbridge Rural Development will hold a textile collection at the end of June, date to be confirmed. If you are sorting out your hotpress, clothes presses, linen cupboards , attics etc you can drop your bags into GRD at Respond and you can get rid of them straight away if you wish. You can leave in clothes, towels, bed linen etc. If you would like more information contact Noel at 059 9775646 between 9.30 to 1pm.

AMENDED DATE FOR GRAVEYARD MASSES - The following is a list of dates for Graveyard Masses in the Parish. Powerstown June 7, Ballyellen June 12, Goresbridge (old) June 29 at Vigil Mass, Wells July 5, Goresbridge (new) July 12, Paulstown (new) August 9, Paulstown (old) Sunday August 11 (11.30 Mass). Masses will be held at 7.30 with the exception of Paulstown (old).

TICKETS ON SALE, 5 CARS TO BE WON - The Kilkenny County Board Hurler’s Co-Op Draw (Piltown Draw) tickets are now available for sale. There are five draws starting on Tuesday June 11. There are 30 prizes to be won each month with the top prize being a car followed by, cash prizes and holidays. Barrow Rangers get to keep half the money from their ticket sales so it is a really important fundraiser for the club. Tickets are €50 each and can be purchased from any committee member or player, Peter Breen has them available in the Goresbridge area.

MONSTER RAFFLE FOR CLUB AND COUNTY CAMOGIE - Paulstown/Goresbridge Camogie club are running a Monster Raffle in conjunction with the County Board to raise much needed funds for both Club and County. There are over 30 fantastic prizes on offer and for just €3.00 per line it’s a draw not to be missed. So please support our girls when they call on you. HOUSEBOUND HOUSE VISITS - Fr. McEvoy will visit the housebound in the Paulstown and Doninga area on Wednesday June 5 and will visit in the Goresbridge area on Friday June 7.

CARLOW KELLOGGS GAA CUL CAMPS 2013 - The annual Kelloggs GAA Cul Camps will take place in Mt Leinster Rangers Pitch again this July. The hurling and camogie camp will begin on Monday 15th July to Friday 19th July and the football camp will begin on Monday 22nd July to Friday 26th july. Camp begins at 10am to 2.30pm daily Monday to Friday. There are places available on both camps.

All boys and girls from 6yrs to 13yrs in primary school may attend. Application forms have been distributed in all Primary schools. The cost is €55 per child and each participant will receive the Cul Camp jersey, shorts , socks and Backpack.

All coaches are qualified to coach juvenile players and all activities are age appropriate and games based to ensure maximum enjoyment.

CAN YOU HELP - Our Fás and Tus workers have been working very hard to clean up the village before the adjudicator from the Tidy Towns arrives to judge; this can happen any date from June 1st. If you are a resident in the village you can help by putting out some window boxes, flower pots, perhaps paint your gate, remove any weeds that may still be in front of your home, wash the lower end of your walls to remove dust and grime. All these things can make a huge difference to the marks so your help is vital at this time.
