Tullaroan - DVD will bring back memories

Tullaroan Hurling Club - A D.V.D. which was compiled by the late Dan Grace and produced by Breda Grace will be launched in Connolly’s Lounge on Saturday 1st June at 10pm. It features the presentation of medals to the under 16, Junior and Minor winners of the 1983 championship, the presentation of certificates to 1932, 1948 and 1958 county final winners. It also features the Sam Melbourne collection of medals along with interviews with the Jim Maher, Dan Hogan, Knockeenbawn, Sean Clohessy, Dick Teehan, Jack Egan and the late Tom Ryann. The pair of D.V.Ds will cost €15.00 and they run for three hour duration.

Spin and Win - Noel Coogan was the lucky winner of €80.00 in Connolly’s spin and win last Saturday luck is in the Coogan household as Noel’s wife Carmel won €1000.00 on the spin and win recently. The jackpot next weed is €700.00.

Whist Drive - A whist drive in aid of M.S.F. which is a voluntary organisation that works in poorly developed countries will take place in the Community Centre on Friday 31st May. All whist drives will commence at 8.45pm.

Corpus Christi - The fease of Corpus Christi will be celebrated on 2nd June. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place in the Church of The Assumption form 9.30am to mass time at 10.30am. This is in conjuction with all Churches in the Diocese.

Tullaroan Water Scheme - Water lines will be turned off on Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th June from 8pm to 12 midnight in order to flush out the lines. For further information please contact Chris Maher.

Soccer Club - The men’s team will try a create history by adding the cup to their league title. Kick off is at 6.30 on Saturday in Derdimus Park. Evergreen are the opposition and all support would be welcomed.

1000K Cycle Challenge - A novel fundraiser for the Tullaroan hurling club was held last weekend. A 1000k cycle challenge was held in the sports grounds on Saturday and concluded in Connolly’s Lounge that night. A big thanks to all who supported the event where €1400 was raised for the club.

Tullaroan Heritage Centre - An E.G.M. of the Tullaroan heritage centre will be held in the Community Centre on Thursday 30th May commencing at 8.30pm. Your attendance would be very much appreciated.

Scrap Metal Collection - Anyone wishing to donate scrap metal to the Tullaroan hurling club are asked to please leave it into the sports field or contact any officer of the club.Collection can be organised.

Recently Deceased - The death’s look place last week of Very Rev. Canon Richard Phelan formerly parish priest of Ballycallan, Co. Kilkenny, Nicholas Teehan, Shipton House, Kilmanagh and John O’Connor, Kilmanagh. Sympathy to the Phelan, Teehan and O’Connor’s families.

Tullaroan Walk Way - All help is required in the sports grounds on Wednesday at 7pm for the cleanup of the walkway. Please bring strimmers, spades, shovels etc.

Kilkenny Camogie - Grace Walsh, Mountgale was on the Kilkenny Senior Camogie that overcame Offaly on a scoreline of Kilkenny 2.13 to Offaly 2.10 in the Leinster Senior Camogie Final held on Sunday afternoon last.

Tullaroan Water Scheme A.G.M. - The annual general meeting was held in the community centre on Wednesday last. Chairman Tom Cleere welcomed everyone, Dick Walshe, Secretary outlined the changes that took part during the year, Simon Walton, Treasurer gave a detailed account of the finances of the scheme.It was proposed and seconded to leave the rates the same as last year. The invoices will be going out to all on the scheme over the coming weeks. Tullaroan are lucky to have such good water quality and it is hoped that those on the scheme appreciate same.

The three officers were reelected for the coming year.
