VARIETY CONCERT - The annual variety concert in aid of St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny will take place in Dunphy’s Lounge, Kilmoganny on Saturday 15th June at 9.30 p.m.. Tickets are on sale at the usual local outlets.
KELLS TIDY TOWNS - will host a table Quiz in Shirley’s, Kells on this Saturday evening at 9.00 p.m.. The entry cost is €40 per table of four.
CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION - The annual Corpus Christi Procession took place in Dunamaggan on Sunday last after 11.00 a.m. mass. The children who receive their First Holy Communion a few weeks ago led the procession.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB - Representing Kells in the County 40 x 20 Girls U 13 B Singles were Kerrianne Power, Kym Ryan and Catherine Shirley. Kym Ryan made it to the final but was beaten by Laura Foley (Windgap).
In the Primary Schools B Handball tournament, in the final of the Girls U 11 B Singles Olivia Mahoney (Kells) defeated Hannah Lodge (Kells), in the Girls U 11 B Doubles Ciara Walsh/Breanna O’Dwyer (Kells) defeated Cliona O’Shea/Emily Culleton (Windgap), in the Girls U 13 B Singles Rona Nash (Clogh) beat Catherine Shirley (Kells). In the Boys U 11 B Doubles Andy Hickey/Shaun O’Keeffe (Kells) beat Jake Hickey/Alex Molloy (St. John’s), in the Boys U 13B Doubles Conor Drennan/Patrick Doyle (Clogh) beat Darragh O’Keeffe/Conor Hoban (Kells).
Kells Club have entered the following team in the Leinster Junior B Interclub: Brendan Burke, Diarmuid Burke, Anthony Martin, Dan Breen and Brendan Hyland. In the first round they beat Brian Boru (Dublin) and then defeated Ballymitty (Wexford). Good luck to the team in the Leinster final where they meet Monavea (Laois).
KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB - will as usual welcome members form other Clubs to join them on their Wednesday Evenings for Bridge during the summer months. Bridge is played in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Wednesday evenings. You are welcome to attend as an individual. You do not have to be accompanied by a partner.
KELLS SCOUTS - Beavers from the 6th Kilkenny Scouts, Kells camped overnight in Thomastown on Friday 24th May. Thirty- five Beavers went on the camp. On Friday evening after getting settled in everyone went on a hike and the Beavers got a chance to play in the local playground. This was followed by hot chocolate and a snack before bed. Following an early rise on Saturday morning the Beavers did some pioneering, played games and paid a final visit to the playground. A great time (if not much sleep) was had by all. Thanks to Thomastown Scout Group for the use of their hall.
Fourteen scouts and their leaders camped in Windgap from Friday 24th May to Sunday 26th. They set up camp on Friday evening. On Saturday morning they built a table, putting their Pioneering skills to the test. After this they went on a 35km cycle, as it was a gorgeous day. Their first stop was Knockroe, known locally as The Coshel, which is a Neolithic passage tomb. They then made their way to the Lingaun River where they rested for a while before setting off for Ahenny. They then had lunch and relaxed for a while before they headed to the Ahenny High Crosses. After that they made their way back to camp and cooked dinner. On Sunday, after a late rise, they cooked breakfast, packed up and tidied up the camp before heading home.
