ART EXHIBITION - Family, friends and wellwishers turned out force to support Julie Moorhouse on the opening of her sculpture exhibition in The Norman Gallery, Enniscorthy on Saturday night. The exhibition was opened by the Minister for Arts and Culture, Jimmy Denehan. The title of the exhibition was, St Sebastian and other works and Julie was congratulated on her commitment to the project resulting in a fine display. Julie is the tutor for the Bennettsbridge Art Group and several members of the group turned up on the night to support.

SYMPATHY - Sympathy is extended to Mrs Claire McCormack, on the unexpected death of her brother, Ger O’Brien, Newpark, Kilkenny. Claire is Canon Duggan’s housekeeper.

FIRST COMMUNION - First Communion will be held on next Saturday, 19th May in St Bennett’s Church.

BORD NA N-OG - Well done to the U16s who won against Mullinavat at home on Friday night 3-19 to 2-10. Hard luck to the Minors who were unsuccessful on Monday night against Ballycallan in Kilmanagh, score, 14 pts to 11 pts. OPERATION TRANSFORMATION IS IN FULL SWING - Second weigh-in was held on Monday night with contestants proving their hard work is paying off.  Please join the walkers any night you can, the more the merrier for support.  Check in with John Byrne or Mary Blanchfield as to the nights the walks are happening and remember you can sponsor one or more of the participants and the money raised goes to the development of the Club

EAST END CELEBRATIONS - East End dinner dance is on Friday, May 18. This is the final chance to buy tickets for the Dinner Dance. Eucharistic Congress - An information evening for all planning to attend the Eucharistic Congress and / or Statio Orbis will be held on Thursday 17th May at St. Fiachre’s Parish Centre at 7.30pm. It is hoped that the tickets for Croke Park Mass will be available for distribution. As this is an important international event in the Church calendar, parishes, schools and homes etc are encouraged to decorate their premises to welcome the Congress to Ireland. Congress flags and bunting can be purchased through Irish Wholesale Flags directly on 093 42024 or email irishwholesaleflag@hotmail.com Those still interested in obtaining tickets for any Congress event or the Final Mass in Croke Park should ring 01 2981122 Special Trains for pilgrims. Irish Rail/Iarnrod Eireann will operate special trains for pilgrims from Waterford/Kilkenny going to the Eucharistic Congress. Train Times are as follows: Tuesday 12th June: Leaving Waterford 6.40 am, Thomastown 7.03, Kilkenny 07.18, Muine Bheag 7.37 arriving in Sandymount (5 mins walk from RDS) Dublin at approx. 9.30am. The return train leaves Sandymount station at 10.00pm Sunday 17th June: Leaving Waterford 9.35am, Thomastown 9.58. Kilkenny 10.13, Muine Bheag 10.31 arriving at Connolly Station (10 minutes walk from Croke Park) at 12 midday. The return train leaves Connolly at 18.10pm. For these trains to run booking is essential and needs to be done immediately. Many parishes have organised bus transport.

SOCCER - Schoolboys Results: U11 David Doran Cup:  Evergreen 4, East End 0. Hard luck to a very hard working Under 11 team who just had no luck on the day.  Well done to all concerned in getting to the final. The team received club polo shirts.  Sponsored by Sentry Security. COLLECTION - Sincere thanks to parishioners for their very generous response to the church gate collection last weekend in aid of the Epilepsy Association. The sum realised from Tullaherin and Bennettsbridge was E336.00.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL - The May collection for St Vincent De Paul will be held on the weekend after next, Saturday, 26th and 27th May. The society realises that there are many demands on people at the present and would be grateful for your support to allow them to continue their very important work.

WRITERS GROUP - The monthly meeting of the Bennettsbridge Writers Group has been re-scheduled and will now take place on Wednesday, 23rd May in Patricia Cullen’s house at 2pm.

ART GROUP - Due to circumstances, the meetings arranged for 19th and 26th May with tutor Julie Moorhouse will not now take place and further dates will be arranged. Bennettsbridge Art Group will contact members as soon as dates are finalised.
