CLARA NS FUN DAY- Parent Association Family Fun Day - Sunday 27th of May from 2pm to 5pm in Clara GAA Grounds. This will be a great fun day for all the family as there will be something for everyone young or old. Some of the events on the day will be Wheel of Fortune, Bottle Stall, Tea Tent & Shop, Ice Cream Van, BBQ, Bouncy Castles, Kiddies Area, Golf, Bowls, Speed Stacks and much much more. There will be surprise star guests on the day. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the fun filled day this is promised to be.
CONGRATULATIONS- to Kevin Kehoe on winning the National Junior Cadet Championships in the National Stadium at 63 Kgs. He will now represent Ireland in the European Boxing Championships in October in Russia.
CLARA GAA- This week the winning feeling has continued with both the Junior and Intermediate Hurling teams winning their games. The Juniors played on Saturday night against Tullaroan in Tullaroan and won 0-13 to 2-14. Well done lads.
THE INTERMEDIATE hurlers played on Sunday in Thomastown against Mullinavat, this turned out to be a one sided game from the start when Liam Ryan opened the scoring with a goal. Clara added two more points in quick concession, Keith Hogan with a free and a nice long range point from David Langton. Mullinavat got their first score from a free after some hard work. Clara got two more points before Mullinavat got their second and third point. The points for Clara coming from Liam Ryan and Jack Langton. Liam Ryan added another point before Mullinavat got point number four from a free. Conor Phelan got Clara’s 6th point of the game before Mullinavat got their 5th and final point of the half. Before the end of the first half Clara added three points without reply the points coming from Shane Prendergast and two from Keith Hogan one of these coming from a free. This left the score at half time Clara 1-9 Mullinavat 0-5. The second half started pretty much the same as the first half ended with Clara getting three unanswered points two frees from Keith Hogan and nicely taken point from Liam Ryan. Mullinavat pointed a 65 before Clara again got three more point Keith Hogan again with a free and Liam Ryan with 2 more points. Mullinavat had pointed a free before Conor Phelan got his second of the match. Mullinavat got their 8 point of the game which Keith Hogan followed with two more points and Lester Ryan with another. Lester had come on for Stephen Quinlan in the second and Brian O’Shea came on for Christopher Bolger also in the second half.
Mullinavat Finished the game with a point from a free. This left the full time score Clara 1-19 Mullinavat 0-9. Scores - Liam Ryan 1-5, Keith Hogan 0-8 (5 frees), Conor Phelan 0-2,David Langton 0-1, Jack Langton 0-1, Shane Prendergast 0-1 and Lester Ryan 0-1. Really well done to all. Clara’s next Intermediate Hurling Match will be next Saturday in Bennettsbridge against John Lockes at 7.30pm. All Support would be great.
CLARA CAMOGIE- It was a good week for Clara Camogie with the U14’s getting off to a good start on Wednesday in the first round of the St.Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Roinn A championship. On a wet and windy evening in Clara the girls braved the elements to defeat St. Martins Muckalee on a score line of Clara 03 – 03, St. Martins 02 – 02. The team were Aine McDonald, Siobhan Curtis, Muireann Twomey, Leah Carroll, Maria Shortall, Margaret O’Connell, Rebecca Nolan, Michelle Bergin, Olivia Casey, Aoife Treacy, Aoife Heeran, Rachel Murphy, Lucy Power, Sarah Browne and Sarah Bergin. The girls will meet Dicksboro next in the second round.
U10 CAMOGIE- The U10 girls started their Go Games campaign on Saturday morning in Ballyragget, and had a truly enjoyable day; winning all three of their matches, they defeated Naomh Bríd Ballyragget, Conahy Shamrocks and Emeralds. The players on the day were Rachel Heeran, Orla Farrell, Leah Phelan, Lucy Cody, Kelly Brennan, Kacey Bolger, Erin O’Connell, Katie Ryan, Keara Ryan, Laoise Phelan, Siobhan Treacy, Peig Carrigan and Sinead Twomey. Their next Go Games Blitz will be on the 16th June in O’Loughlins.
U16 CAMOIGE- Also on Saturday afternoon the U16 Camogie team competed in the Leinster Pink Day Blitz qualifier in Clara. In a really competitive game they took on St. Brigids Kilmanagh and defeated them on a score line of Clara 05 – 09, to St. Brigids 05 – 04. On the Clara panel were Nicola Murphy, Margaret Kehoe, Mary O’Connell, Catherine Murphy, Ciara Byrne, Eimear Mulhall, Niamh Treacy, Blaithin Breen, Aoife Glynn, Lisa Kehoe, Aisling Delaney, Sarah Bergin, Sarah Molloy, Doireann Harding, Jane Maher, Siobhan Curtis, Margaret O’Connell, Rebecca Nolan, and Michelle Bergin. The girls now along with one other team go on to represent Kilkenny in the blitz later on in the summer. Well done to all the Camogie players for such great team performances this week.

SCRAP METAL COLLECTION- as a fundraising event this year Clara will be asking everyone in Clara for any Scrap Metal you might have around your house, farm or business. The club will be hoping to run this event at the end of July. More information will be available over the coming weeks.
