WEDDING BELLS - The marriage was solemnised in St Bennett’s Church recently between, Jane Galway, daughter of Kay and Sean Galway, Rathcusack and James Moran, son of Breeda and John Moran, Ballylooby, Tipperary. Celebrant was Canon Patrick Duggan, PP Tullaherin assisted by Rev Michael Moran, cousin of the groom. Jane was attended by her sister Laura, Aoife Lennon and Elaine Walsh. She wore a full length gown in white lace and taffeta with a long train. The bridesmaids wore gowns in dusky pink. Best man was Eamonn Ryan and groomsmen were, Daire Connery and Alan Kennedy. The wedding party included Flower Girl, Tara Coyne, Darren Coffey and Jack Marnell(pageboys). The lessons were read by Patrick Darmody(friend ) and Norah Gahan(aunt of groom) Prayers of the faithful were recited by,Tara Monaghan, Kenneth Coffey, Michael Eardly, Eileen Hanrick,Orla Morrissey,Michael Murphy and Danny Coyne. The offertory gifts were presented by Kay and Breeda, mothers’ of the bride and groom. Music throughout the ceremony was by Margaret and Bridget Nolan, Olive O’Connor and Aileen O’Shea.The reception was held in The Orchard Suite, Hotel Kilkenny and the honeymoon was spent in South America. Jane serves on the Kilkenny County Council, taking the place originally held by Senator Pat O’Neill. James is an engineer and he is a member of the Junior hurling panel with Bennettsbrdge.

SYMPATHY - Sympathy goes to the family of Mrs Mary Keogh, Dunnamaggin, who has died. Mary was a member of the Kelly family, Annamult and her burial took place in Danesfort. Sympathy is also extended to the Dillon family on the death of Mrs Madge Bambrick, nee Dillon which occurred last week.

CARDS - The weekly card game in The Community Centre was enjoyed by the attendance. Prizewinners were: 1 Margaret and Bridget Brennan; 2 Larry and Tom Walsh, Jim Reid/Willie O’Keeffe and Sam Gibbons/Matty Bolger; table prize Martin Hanlon/Toddy Skehan.

CEMETERY MASSES - The Annual Mass in Tullaherin Cemetery will be held this Saturday night at 8pm. On Saturday, 4th August, mass will be celebrated in Bennettsbridge Cemetery at 7pm. THOMASTOWN CEMETERY MASS - The Annual Mass in St Mary’s Cemetery, Thomastown will be held on Friday, 3rd August at 8pm.

COLLECTION - The churchgate collection in aid of the Irish Autism Society was held at the weekend. The sum realised was €370.00 and the generosity of the parishioners is acknowledged with thanks.

LOTTO - No winner last week. Numbers chosen, 3,6, 16, 28. Jackpot now stands at €9100. Consolation Prizes went to Sean Dobbyn, Castlegarden; Teresa Trehy, c/o J. Doran; Margaret Lannon, The Ring; Mary Crowe, Gowran Road and MarianBrady, Woodlawn

ART GROUP - Bennettsbridge Art Group meet this Thursday in the Community Centre for an afternoon session, 12 –4.30pm. The group hope to hold an exhibition of their work during Kilkenny Arts Week.

WRITERS GROUP - Members meet this Wednesday in Patsy Crimin’s house at 2pm.
