UNDER 14 - The league play off was played last Friday night in Ballyragget against Castlecomer. These two teams had a draw match the last time they met and so both had all to play for this time. The first half was a fairly level match score wise, but Lisdowney seemed to have the upper hand in play. Half time score was 0:7 to 1:3 for Lisdowney. Laurence Campion was a rock of stability in the half back line while James Phelan was a dominant force throughout the field, laying his body on the line in many tackles. This was still anyone’s game and although Lisdowney were playing exceptionally well Comer were still winning a lot of ball and were still well in the game. The second half started at pace. The first 4 minutes saw Lisdowney point a 65 and score a goal and a point while Erins Own retaliated with a goal. After this however Lisdowney pulled ahead and totted up the scores. Niall Brennan was having a great game catching a lot of ball and helping feed Ben Tallis who was on top scoring form throughout the match. Castlecomer came in on the attack strongly in the last 3 minutes, but never managed to find the target and so Lisdowney came out on top on a score of 2:16 to 2:4. They now meet the winners of Sleiverue v Freshford in the Semi finals. For full match report check the website www.lisdowney.kilkenny.gaa.ie Team: Liam Dunphy, David Fitzpatrick, Kevin O’Sullivan, Ewan Hills, Mark FItzpatrick, Stephen Delaney, Laurence Campion, James Phelan, David O’;Carroll 0:1, Niall Brennan 0:1, Brian Kavanagh 1:2 and 5 frees, Gary O’Sullivan 0:2, Jack McGree, Cathal Jordan 0:1, and Ben Tallis 1:3.
