HANDBALL-Congratulations to the Kilfane U14 Girls Handball team which won the Handball Feile in the City West. They beat Lahorna in the 40 x 20 final to bring the title to Kilfane, in this their first outing in the competition. In other Kilfane handball news the Hal Clarke Annual Tournament has reached the final stage and after some great games involving teams from all over the county the stage is now set for an exciting final between Ger McGrath and Brendan Burke. Friday, 27th July, at 7pm is the date and the Kilfane committe are expecting a good attendance at this popular event.

GOLF-Bennettsbridge Golf Society will have it’s next outing on Saturday next(Captain’s Prize, Michael Fitzpatrick), in Gowran Park. Tee Times, 10.20 – 12noon. Names of those intending to play should contact any committee member on or before Thursday.

CAT WALK QUEEN-Local schoolgirl, Gracie O’Mahony was featured in an article in the Sunday Indepentent Life Magazine a few weeks ago. The article highlighted Gracie’s ambitions to be a model and the challenges she has overcome to achieve this.

Gracie always had an interest in fashion and a work experience placement opened the avenue into what promises to be a very bright future in the modelling world for the 17 year old. Gracie is a daughter of Fiona and William O’Mahony, Barronsland, Bennettsbridge.

DENIS ON RADIO-Listeners to RTE radio last week were surprised to hear local man, Denis O’Gorman, being interviewed during a programme coming from the Willie Clancy School of Music in Miltown Malbay. Denis is well known for his interest in traditional music and is an accomplished accordion player.

COLLECTION-There will be a churchgate collection in aid of the Autism Association of Ireland next weekend before all masses.

BORD NA NOG NEWS-Well done to U14s who have reached the League Final and qualified to meet Dunnamaggin.  Due to inclement weather the match which was to be played last week had to be postponed and will not be played for a few weeks. See fixtures for further details.

Also doing well are the U16s who have reached the Shield Final following a great win over St Martin’s on Thursday last.Congratulations to Jason Cleere, Liam Blanchfield, Sean Morrissey and Kevin Brennan who have been included on Kilkenny U16 Teams.
