Tullaroan: County final beckons for the women

Camogie - The Tullaroan camogie team will play the Rower/Inistioge in the Intermediate County Final at Thomastown onSaturday 6th October at 1.30pm. Loreto Secondary School - Enrolment for first years will take place on Monday 15th October. Application forms available from the school office. An open night will take place on Thursday 4th October at 6.45pm for 6th class girls. This is a ticketed event which are available from the school office.

Hurling - The Tullaroan minor team had a comprehensive victory over Cloneen in the Roinn C minor championship held at Ballyraggett on Saturday last. Tullaroan set out their stall early in the match where they scored at will and the game was all but over at half time. Tullaroan continued in the same vein in the second half and set themselves up to qualify for a County Final against Carrickshock. Congratulations to all involved.

U14 Hurling - The under 14 team take on Mooncoin in the Roinn B Shield final in Ballyhale on Saturday at 12 noon.

Senior Hurling - The senior team take on St. Martins in the last league match of the series. This match will be held at 4pm in Freshford on Saturday 6th October. The Championship starts the following weekend as all club matches have been delayed this year because of Kilkenny’s long run in the All Ireland series.

Prague House -Prague House fundraising committee are holding a raffle commencing this month and continuing for three months with ten draws in total. Tickets costing €30.00 are on sale and members of the committee will be calling to all householders in Tullaroan this week.

Congrats Tommy - Tommy Walsh, Mountgale was on the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Team who overcame Galway in the All Ireland Senior hurling replay at Croke Park last Sunday.

St. Vincent de Paul - A second collection will be taken up at all Masses this weekend on behalf of the society.

Recently Deceased - The death took place of Mrs. Mary Kennedy (nee Archer), Ballyphilip, Freshford and Parkgrove, Ballyraggett. Mary was mother of Mary Hogan, Gaulstown, Tullaroan. Deepest sympathy to Mary Hogan and to the Kennedy family.

Tullaroan Group Water Scheme - The above group held their annual general meeting in the Tullaroan community centre on Thursday last. In a letter which was delivered to all subscribers of the scheme the officer’s pointed out the need to increase charges due to the increased costs of running the scheme. Chairman Tom Cleere welcomed all to the meeting and outlined the problems facing the scheme. The Secretary Dick Walshe gave an account of the running of the scheme for the last year. Treasurer Simon Walton gave a detailed account on the financial side of the scheme. After a good discussion it was decided to increase the contributions to the scheme, it was proposed to double the charge of the land connections and to increase all other subscribers.
