WHIST CHANGES - To all those fans and attendees of whist drives held by St. Brigid’s Camogie Club, please note that games are for this season being held on Friday nights and not Sunday as per previous seasons. The next whist drive is being held in the Palmerstown Venue at 8:30pm on Friday, October 12 with the usual craic and refreshments. So, once again the games for this season (2012/2013) are being held on Friday nights, not Sundays. All are welcome.
CHERNOBYL CONCERT - The Thukolo Gospel Choir and the Memphis Cats are playing in The Watergate Theatre on Saturday, 6 October. Tickets are €10 each and proceeds are for Chernobyl Kilkenny Outreach Group. For further information contact Carmel Everard on 086-3768305.
D.I.Y. PROGRAMME - For anyone wanting to learn or improve basic Home Repairs and Maintenance in their own home this is a worthwhile course. On completion of this programme participants will be able to understand and demonstrate basic plumbing, electrical works, tiling, painting, and decorating skills which will empower people to carry out tasks in their own home or create an opening for them to carry out further training. The course will be run over 5 Tuesdays (9:30am to 4:30pm) and will begin on 9 October, 2012. This project is funded by County Kilkenny Leader Partnership. The cost will be €20 per participant. NEWLY RETIRED COURSE - The Aging With Confidence Programme is for retired people and is specifically designed to offer older people support in living life to the full in a positive way. The course will be run of 10 Thursdays from 2pm to 4:30pm and will begin on 11 October. This is run in partnership with Droichead FRC and Kilkenny Age Friendly County and is free of charge. RELAY FOR LIFE - Relay for life is coming to Kilkenny. This is a very special 24 hour journey where hundreds of people gather together for an overnight community celebration of a unique, empowering and fun event. At the heart of Relay is the opportunity to celebrate Cancer Survivors and remember those who have departed this world because of it. People who have been touched in any and every way by cancer are invited to join in the celebration. Relay for Life in Kilkenny will be held on Saturday 20 July and Sunday 21 July, 2013 at Scanlon Park, Kilkenny. The group are recruiting teams of volunteers who will walk around the track in relay, for 24 hours, because cancer never sleeps!! Otherwise team members are free to socialise, have fun and enjoy the fun packed day and entertainment.
