Ballyhale: Peter’s flock express thanks with event

Fr. Kehoe MOVES ON - This Saturday 6th October the Parish will hold a celebration to mark Fr. Peter Kehoe’s 12 years on Ministry in the Parish of Ballyhale. Fr. Kehoe will celebrate 7.30pm Mass in Ballyhale and afterwards everyone is invited to Carroll’s Hotel, Knocktopher for refreshments. A presentation will be made by the Parish Fabric and Finance committee on behalf of parishioners. They are seeking local musical talent to provide entertainment to help make it an even more memorable night. Fr. Kehoe finished up in his position as our Parish Priest a few weeks ago to take up a new position as a School Chaplain elsewhere. We all wish him all the best in his new position and thank him for his work on behalf of the Parish, including the National School.

Southend United - Southend United have several new teams. There are opportunities for adult and juvenile players. Contact the club committee for details –Andy O’Keeffe or David ‘Brunch’ Kennedy.

Kilkenny - Kilkenny won the All-Ireland Final replay in some style last Sunday in Croke Park. Once again the Shamrocks Hurling Club had a strong representation on the team and panel. Henry Shefflin, Michael Fennelly and TJ Reid all started. Colin Fennelly was introduced as a sub and scored a goal almost immediately! All three starters had a big influence on the game also, not the least of which was Henry Shefflin, a very probable Hurler of the Year for 2012. The GAA introduced Family tickets for the replay and many local families availed of the tickets – which were great. A special word of thanks to Club Secretary Sean O’Sullivan who has now had 5 All-Ireland Finals in his four years as Club Secretary. His predecessor only had 5 All-Ireland Finals to deal with in 6 years.

Henry Shefflin - Local and National Hurling legend has become the first man to win 9 All-Ireland medal on the field of play. He has equalled former Kilkenny goalkeeper Noel Skehan’s tally (although two of his were won as a sub). Henry was named on every starting team which won an All-Ireland title in the last 13 years. The only time on-field he missed in that whole period was when his cruciate knee ligament went in the 2007 Final. Near neighbour Noel Hickey also joined the ranks of 9 All-Ireland medal winners! Hearty congratulations from all supporters!

Camogie - Congrats to the Ballyhale minor Camogie team who won the County Minor 7-a-side Final last weekend! They beat Paulstown in the decider.
