AGM-The 17th St Martins Bord na nÓg AGM took place in Ballyfoyle on 30/11/2012. There was a great attendance for this important meeting and some great debates took place with some good decisions being made in order to benefit the younger members of the Club. A big thanks to our main sponsors Willie Forde (Eurospar Castlecomer)minor, Jim Bolger(u16) and Geoff Doyle(u14). Well done to all who helped with fundraising throughout the past year, looking after teams, sponsors for tournaments and anybody who helped the club in the past year. Officers that were elected are Chairman Patrick O flynn, Secretary Michéal Brennan, Treasurer Michael Manning, Pro Martin Stapleton and Co Board reps are Breda Tynan and Donnacha Quinlan. Selectors for each age group were also elected and all are looking forward to an eventful year in 2013.

The Spirit of Christmas CD-Enjoy the beautiful voices of the children of The Blind School of Mombasa, who touched the hearts of the Irish Volunteers when they built a new home for 140 children in 2012. Included in that group were two locals; Billy Murphy, Muckalee and Michael Stapleton, Ballyfoyle. All proceeds from this CD will go directly to help the children’s educational and medical needs.

Muckalee Parish Carol Service-The annual parish choir service will take place in St Bridget’s Church Coon on Friday December 21st at 7 pm. This event will involve the church choirs from Ballyfoyle, Coon and Muckalee. This event has been running for a few years and has been a highlight of parish life. Adm is free
WEBBSBOROUGH SAFETY-The recent additional safety signage at Webbsborough on the N78 has been welcomed by all road users. Cllr. Maurice Shortall says that particular bend has been the scene of numerous accidents. “The additional safety signage at Webbsborough in conjunction with the new roundabout at Hennebrys Cross and the Re-Alignment at Damerstown will hopefully ensure all who use the N78 will do so in a safe manner into the future”
DOWLINGS CROSS IMPROVEMENTS-Motorists exiting Coon Via Dowlings Cross will benefit from the improved visibility at the junction. Cllr. Maurice Shortall says it had been a dangerous junction and welcomed the improvements.
Coon Sale of Work-Thanks to all for the great support for the recent sale of work. Despite the poor weather conditions it was a tremendous success bringing in €17,795. Great credit to all the hard working organisers, those who prepared the timber for the auction, sold and bought raffle tickets, looked after stalls and provided sponsorship and the welcome cup of tea, cakes and sandwiches.
