Clogh Moneenroe: Impressive winners list at handball club

ACTIVE PARENTS COUNCIL-The parents council of St.Patrick’s National School, Clogh would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the people that volunteered their time and gave generously to the fundraising bag pack held in Eurospar last weekend. It was a great success raising a total of €1841!. 450 people signed a petition which was forwarded to the Minister for Education and Skills. We are also forwarding the letter to all local representatives requesting a response.

Clogh Community Book update-The organising committee would like to thank everyone in the community for their support for our fundraising book of historic pictures and memorabilia from the local area. surely a great souvenir for local people living abroad.

12 Organisations have made written submissions to the book: Over 3000 photographs were donated by the people of Clogh and €2100 has been secured in sponsorship from 38 businesses and organisations. We are now in the process of applying for a Leader grant to meet half of the publishing costs. It is hoped to launch it around St Patricks Day 2013.

HANDBALL AGM-Clogh Handball Club held it’s AGM last week and the success of the club in 2012 was highlighted by the impressive list of achievements by club members presented by secretary Josephine Cooney. Chairman Colm Love in his address pointed out that 27 members, male and female had taken part in the World Championships held in City West and William Love had returned with a gold medal and Ciara Mahon won silver. The two successful players received presentations at a function in the Parish Centre organised by Boneyarrow residenrs. Thr presentations were made by the areas most senior citizen Paddy Mahon. Elected at the AGM were : Honorary Presidents Andy Hosey, Paddy Curry, Michael Sullivan and Billy Kennedy. Vice President Fr. Martin Tobin P.P. Chairman Colm Love, Vice Chairman Gerard Egan, Secretary Josephine Cooney. Treasurer Sheila Hosey, PRO Charlie McCarthy, Juvenile Officer Gerard Egan, Committee Edward Mahon, Sean Love, Mary Roche, Donal Brennan, Liz Regan, Shane Dunne, John Barry and Billy Love.
