COLLEGES SUCCESS - Congratulations to Padraig Cooney and Shane Dunne who won All Ireland colleges Junior Doubles in Kingscourt. Hard luck to Aishling Maher and Denise Love beaten in All Ireland Ladies Senior Doubles. Ciara Mahon had to withdraw from Ladies Senior Singles due to illness.

RAILYARD GFC - Railyard GFC recently held there AGM in the club house in Moneenroe. Chairman Jimmy Roche and Secretary Ger Campion both thanked Ticket sellers and everyone who had helped raise funds for the football club. Treasurer Caroline Brennan gave a comprehensive breakdown of the clubs finance for the year. Guest speaker Maurice Shorthall congratulated the the club officers on how the club has been run for the year and wished the club all the best for the year. The elected officers for the year were:

Railyard Senior footballers have had a mixed start to the season. In the opening game of the league Railyard took on Kilgoganny. In a tight game, Railyard never really got going and ended up going down to a 3 point defeat, on a scoreline of Railyard 1-8 Kilmoganny 3-5. In the second game, Railyard bounced back and put in a very good performance to defeat Dicksboro on a scoreline of, Railyard 2-14 Dicksboro 0-10.

The Railyard Juniors have had a very good start to the season. In the opening game of the league they took on the Rower Inistioge and after putting in a great performance they came out on top in a tight game on a scoreline of Railyard 2-7 Rower Inistioge 2-5. In the second game of the league Railyard juniors took on neighbours rivals Muckalee. In a game in which they were always in control they came out on top on a scoreline of Railyard 4-4 Muckalee 0-2

FOOTBALL FOR GIRLS - Erins Own Girls Gaelic football Club was established in 2012.We are looking for all those girls aged 7 to 8 ,U10 & U14 who are interested in playing gaelic football in 2013.

We are also taking expressions of interest from girls born in years 1995 & 1996 to form an U18/Minor team.

Note.If your town or village doesn’t offer girls gaelic football the girls are then eligible to play in Castlecomer until those towns or villages form football teams.

All new players will be made to feel very welcome.

JUVENILE AGM - The Cloneen / Railyard club na nOg which looks after underage hurling and football independently of the senior clubs will hold their Annual General Meeting in Cloneen clubhouse tomorrow (Thursday) night at 8 o’clock.

This committee has been working very hard to develop the games at all ages from under 10 to minor and invite as many as possible to attend this important meeting.

RAQUETBALL FINALS - There was a very big turnout for the finals of the winter raquetball competition and presentations in Ryans on Friday night (Results next week). The main beneficiary was St. Patricks School, Clogh. The organisers also made a presentation to local soccer star Sean Maguire to celebrate his signing for English Premier division club West Ham United and his ongoing success with the Irish under 19 side.
