CONCERT - Danesfort GAA Club are hosting their first ‘Gathering’ event of 2013 on Saturday February 23 in the Springhill Court Hotel, with an Awards Night and concert by Irish folk legends Diarmuid O’Leary and the Bards.

The evening will commence from 8 pm. Brian Cody is our guest speaker and he will address the expected large crowd at 8.15 pm. This will be followed by the People of the year Award, which was a new idea that started in the parish in 2012. The players of the year will also be announced on the night. Long established amongst Ireland’s leading entertainers, their first recording single “Julia steppin’ it out at Lanigan’s Ball”- became one of the biggest selling records in Ireland. This was followed by another No. 1 comedy hit “The Oldest Swinger in Town”. They also had success with their recordings of songs, such as “The Railway Hotel”, “Shaney Boy”, “The Old Dungarvan Oak”, “Isle of Innisfree”.To coincide with “The Gathering 2013” the group have released two singles, which reflect both sides of The Bards’ music - “Song for Ireland”.
