FOOD FOR FRIENDS - The launch of our celebrity chef Edward Hayden’s third cookery book was a spectacular affair. The Sue Nunn Show on KCLR was broadcast from Edward’s home at High Street where it seemed the entire population of the Town turned out to lend support - a host of guests, a cookery demonstration, the Graig Brass Band playing in the front garden and of course goodies for all.

The official launch took place at the Springhill Court Hotel Kilkenny on Friday night with Ireland’s Queen of Home Baking Catherine Leydon doing the honours.

With over five hundred in attendance it was a special night to remember and already the word is out that there might be another book in the offing.

One wonders what a one time neighbour namely Paddy ‘Paps’ Whelan now resident in New York and who often makes contact after reading The Kilkenny People would make of the whole occasion. Greetings Paps.

LOTto - Last week’s numbers were 1, 12, 16 & 28. There was no winner of the jackpot which is now worth 9,500 euro. Consolation prize winners were Graham Gill, Maura Bolger, Val Lonergan, Padraig Connors and Mag Whelan.

GAA - The junior hurlers had an impressive win in the first round of the league when they easily outscored Cloneen by 3-12 to 1-8. Hopefully they can build on this and go on to better things as the season progresses.

DRINKING HABITS - Kilcumney Players will stage their highly succesful comedy ‘Drinking Habits’ at the Abbey Hall on Friday and Saturday night, May 10 & 11. This very polished production is well worth seeing and the proceeds will go to the Abbey Hall fund.
