The Ossory Priest Society is charged with making suitable financial provision for the care of the priests in the Diocese of Ossory in infirmity, sickness and old age. Current funding is raised from parishes, from the working priests of the Diocese and from bequest and donations. The society’s resources are administered by a committee comprising four priests and three lay people appointed by bishop Freeman. The current financial resources of the society will not be sufficient in the future to meet it’s commitments to our sick and retired priest. In order to assist them in this situation each parish in the Diocese is being asked to put on a second collection on the weekend of November 24th Feast of Christ the King. We recognize the very difficult financial situation facing many families at this time and would like to acknowledge the continued generosity of people towards our priests.
