The Loreto Kilkenny Parents Association is holding a fun walk, jog or run in the grounds of the Kilkenny Castle Park on Sunday starting at 11am.

The route will cover a distance of 5km, which will be three short laps around the Castle Park. Registration on the day will be at the tennis club from 10.15-10.45am.

Interest and participation in running has soared over the last few years in Kilkenny and it is one of the best, cheapest and easiest ways to improve fitness for all age groups. As a result there are organised runs popping up everywhere and there are runs in the Castle Park every weekend in April. The Loreto fun walk, jog or run promises to provide excellent training for anyone preparing for the many more serious running events this summer, as well as a more social event and the chance to simply enjoy the Castle Park for anyone who would prefer to walk the 5km.

Entry is €5 per person or €15 for a family – and dogs are free.

“This event is all about participation and having fun,” said event organiser Nicky Read. “Everyone is welcome to join in – students, teachers, family, friends and furry friends. There are prizes for everyone who takes part and prizes for the best fancy dress and even the fastest dog. After the event there will be refreshments back at the Tennis Club with treats for everyone – including the dogs.”
