Bennettsbridge: Cards, crafts and coffee on Saturday

WHAT A SALE TO LOOK FORWARD TO - The Annual Christmas Card and Craft Sale organised by the Bennettsbridge Art Group will be held this weekend after masses on Saturday and Sunday. A large selection of handmade cards will be on sale and will feature some favourite local scenes plus some new additions. This year there will be a cake sale incorporated into the event and several parishioners have promised to bake for this. If you wish to help in this regard please leave donations into the hall on Saturday, 3pm to 4pm. Cakes can also be accepted in the hall before mass on Saturday night. Tea and coffee will be available on both days and it is hoped that parishioners will avail of the opportunity to come along for a chat and cuppa. All proceeds from the weekend will go to help the St Vincent de Paul Society in their very valuable work.

RUGBY - Well done Harry and Conor: Two local boys Harry Murphy and Conor Campion were selected from a panel of over 40 players for the Kilkenny U – 11 Rugby team. It was a great honour for the boys considering there was only 12 on the team. They played against Cross Haven (Cork) in Thomond Park at half time during the Ireland/Figi game last Saturday. Over 100 parents and friends travelled down to Limerick to support the team. In a thoroughly exciting and closely contested match both boys justified their selection and played a significant and robust part in the ‘5-all draw’ with the Cork side.

East End - 10th November 2012: Under 10’s played Newpark.  Team: Dan Mitchell, Myles McGovern, John Treacy, Eoin Mitchell, Eimhinn Cassin, Ivan Kelly, Dylan Kenny, Cillian Kelly, Bill Hughes, Steven Kohler, Gearoid Kent Under 12 Division 1: East End 3, Freshford Town 3.  The result was a 3 all draw.  This was an exciting game with East End being very strong in the first half and should have been 5 goals up at half time.  However things did not go their way and they had to come from behind on three occasions to secure a draw. Great work by all concerned. Team: Pauric Connery, Laurence Mahon, Ciaran Mullen, Conor Power, Daniel Murphy, Troy Walsh, Jamie Harkin, Tim Corkery, Mikey Lewis, Ciaran Brennan (2), Dillon Carroll (1), Harry Murphy, Ben King.
