Hope - Aileen Shefflin is fundraising to take part in the Hope Project and her brother Henry Shefflin, along with Liam McCarthy, extend an invitation to you to the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny on Thursday 22 November at 8pm for the launch of “The Spirit of Christmas” CD in association with the Building of Hope Project. The CD was recorded by the children who attend the Likoni School for the Blind in Mombasa, Kenya. 183 volunteers from all over Ireland travelled to Mombasa in January and February 2012 and built a home for these blind children. Outside of Co. Clare, the largest number of volunteers came from the Kilkenny-Carlow area.

The CD comprises of 8 Christmas Carols. The children put a great effort into the recording of the CD as they had to learn the words through braille and in English. They will be on sale on the night for €10 each and all proceeds will be used by the charity for the children’s medical, social and educational needs.

Come along and meet Henry and Liam and support a very worthy cause.

Shamrocks - Having won the County Final Tommy Shefflin’s Senior Team now take on Oulart the Ballagh. This match will take place this coming weekend in a Wexford venue (Wexford Park?) Details will be forthcoming from the GAA during the week.

A large group of members of the gallant Dicksboro team came out to Ballyhale last week to attend a function at Sheff’s on Main Street in Ballyhale. They were looked after by John and Ciara and were made very welcome to Ballyhale by members of the Shamrocks Club.

Hard luck to an exceptionally young Shamrocks under 21 team who lost to John Lockes (Callan) in the under 21 ‘A’ grade last weekend.

Southend - U-13 soccer: The boys were away to Evergreen in the league last Saturday and were two goals down after seven minutes. The team showed superb character and hauled themselves back in to the game courtesy of two strikes from Adam Masood. Eoin Cody then fired the team ahead and Eoin added another goal when he lobbed the Evergreen keeper with a header to leave the boys leading 4-2 at half time. Evergreen pushed forward in the second half and were rewarded when they scored with ten minutes to go. The boys held out for the remainder of the game thanks to great defending by Darragh Corcoran and safe goal keeping by Dean Mason to secure a 4-3 victory after a great game.
