TG4 spent the day filming in Bagenalstown recently and showed the programme on Sunday evening last featuring shots of the town, BEAM Centre and the Family Resource Centre where they filmed a group of children from the Parent and Toddler Group who sang Irish songs and activities. Mrs. Anne O’Connell, a retired Irish teacher from Presentation/De La Salle College did a great job as presenter/interpreter.

There will be a Civic Reception in the McGrath Hall for everyone on December 6.

The trophy, which was presented on November 3, at a function in Limerick, will be on display in the library soon and you can view the plaques outlining the history and heritage of the town, which formed part of the presentation and are now a permanent feature in the library in Main Street.

Make a note of the date for the Civic Reception – December 6, an opportunity for the townspeople to celebrate a great achievement in winning the Co-Operation Ireland Pride of Place in Category 5 – population over 2,000.

MOUNT LEINSTER WAY WALK - The Mt. Leinster Way Walk Presentation took place in Coote’s Lounge, Main Street recently. The amount raised was €9,700 and was donated to the Irish Cancer Society, Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team and Carlow Hospice. Committee members K. Johnson, P.Lawless ,C.Kiely, M.0’Mara, K. Gladney, A. MINISTER COMING TO KILKENNY - Brian Hayes, Minister for Public Service Reform & OPW will speak at a function in the Longman, Kilfane on Saturday, December 1.
CHRISTMAS SALE - The annual Christmas Sale and Coffee Evening will be held in St. Mary’s Hall on Fri. Dec. 7 at 7pm. with the usual stalls – bottles, cakes, bric- a- brac, toys books and lots more. Lots of surprises. Raffle tickets for a hamper will be on sale on the night (or from any parishioner beforehand). Free entry to the Sale and €2 entry to coffee/tea. Proceeds are in aid of Parish funds and BEAM Centre.

NEW RECTOR FOR DUNLECKNEY PARISH -The institution of Rev. Kevin Ronne to Dunleckney Parish will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Bagenalstown, on Friday, Dec. 14 at 8pm. All are welcome and there will be tea afterwards in the hall where Rev. Ronne will look forward to meeting and greeting people.

BALLINKILLEN HURLING CLUB NEWS - Ballinkillen Camogie Club and Ballinkillen Juvenile Hurling Club are holding a Fun Family Table Quiz on Friday, Nov. 30 at 8.30pm in Ballinkillen Lorum Community Centre. Teams of four cost 2 euro. You are invited to go along and bring some friends.

FIT KIDS CLASSES - Do you want your kids to be fitter and healthier? Would you like them to experience fitness classes in a fun filled environment with a qualified instructor? Would you like to give them the opportunity to try out gymnastic skills, tumbling & agility obstacles and a range of multi in-door sports activities with the use of State of the Art Equipment? CHURCH GATE COLLECTION - The annual Church Gate Collection in aid of the Carlow branch of the Multiple Scleroris Society will take place on Sat. Nov 24 and Sun. Nov. 25 in Bagenalstown Parish. Your support for this very worthy cause will be much appreciated.

CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE - Christmas Carol Service will take place in St. Andrew’s Parish Church on Thursday, Dec. 13. Music by the Men’s Choir and St. Patrick’s Brass Band. All are welcome.

THANK YOU - The recent cabaret in aid of Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team raised a total of €1,640.00 The committee is very grateful to the Hunter’s Rest, Fenagh, Buzzards and all who donated raffle prizes, sold tickets and attended the cabaret.

COFFEE MORNING/CRAFT FAIR -in BEAM Services, Regent Street, Bagenalstown on Thurs. Nov. 29 from 9.30am to 3pm. Home made crafts on sale will include Christmas cakes, decorations, ornaments, jewellery, knitted items, cards and BEAM’s very own cook book “Get Cooking” and much more. RATHOE 6th CHRISTMAS GIFT FAIR - The affordable Gift Fair will be held in Rathoe on Sunday, Nov. 25 in Rathoe Hall from 10am to 5pm. There will a monster raffle also in aid of Rathoe National School.
