OSSORY PRIESTS’ SOCIETY SPECIAL COLLECTION - The Ossory Priests’ Society is charged with making suitable financial provision for the care of the priests in the Diocese of Ossory in infirmity, sickness and old age. Current funding is raised form contributions from the parishes, from working Priests of the Diocese and from bequests and donations. The Society’s resources are administered by a Committee comprising four priests and three lay people, all approved and appointed by Bishop Freeman. Currently there are 12 retired priests in the Diocese and ten more priests are due to retire within the next five years. At the moment we have five priests in long term Nursing Home care. The Committee is exploring ways in which additional funds might be raised in future years. In respect of 2012, the Committee recommended to the Priests in the Dioceses that a special collection be made in each parish of the diocese on November 25, Feast of Christ the King. We recognise the very difficult financial situation facing many families at this time and are conscious of the contribution being made to the working priests of the Diocese through parish ‘dues’ collections. In such circumstances I would ask parishioners give what they can to this special collection. We thank all parishioners for t heir help and support.

If you return the information we will contact them, let them know what’s happening and invite them to join us if they can.
