NAOMH BRID CAMOGIE CLUB - The club was delighted to welcome the recently elected Co. Camogie Board Chairman, Mr. Michael Wall, to its meeting on Friday last, January 25th. The Chairman thanked the club for inviting him to meet the committee and stressed that he wants to be aware of how the Co. Board can support all of its units. Michael spoke about the importance of child protection procedures in the club’s administration and gave some useful advice.

He spoke about the value of clubs to the Co. Board and emphasised the importance of retaining players, who started playing at a young age. Michael also highlighted the need for club development and of involving the entire community in our activities.

The club Coach, Aidan Morrissey told the meeting that the Under 10s, 12s and 14s played a combined total of 34 games last year. He noted that only three of last year’s under 14 team will be overage in 2013, so the experience gained will be helpful in the coming season. He hopes that there may be some games for Under 8s this year if all goes well. Aidan was delighted with the girls’ efforts last year and is looking forward to the same commitment this time. He thanked the club Secretary, PRO and Finance Committee for their contributions and was also loud in his praise for parents,

supporters, and all who helped with the training of the teams. Aidan also acknowledged the people who helped with First Aid, Equipment and water duties. There was a sincere thanks also to the St. Patrick’s GAA club for their tremendous assistance with facilities and finance.

The Runai, Sheila Gunner, welcomed some new faces to the meeting and noted apologies from people who were unable to attend. She was pleased to report that the club is financially sound. Sheila thanked the members who helped with the fund raising and acknowledged the exceptional assistance received from the Management and Staff at Super Valu during the bag packing week end. The club intends to establish a more representative committee as well as increasing its pool of coaches/helpers working with each age group. If everyone helps a little, then nobody will be overworked. Parents and players are asked to note that the Registration night has been provisionally fixed for Friday, February 15th. This date will be confirmed in the coming weeks along with venue and time. The club will welcome anyone who wants to help in the promotion of Camogie among the Under 14s of the parish.
