Walking Club - The Brothers of Charity (Kilmacow Group) have started a walking group. It meets at 11.00am on Mondays at the Sports Complex on The Farm, Kilmacow. The route is along the pathways within the Sports Complex. Walkers of all ages are welcome to come along.
School Enrolments - School enrolment forms for parents wishing to enroll their children in the local schools for next September are now available.
St. Patrick’s National School in Strangsmills requires completed forms to be returned to the school by Wednesday, 13th February. Phone 874474 for further information.
Those wishing to enroll their son in St. Senan’s BNS should contact the school at 885361 between 12.00 noon and 2.30pm to make arrangements to meet the Class Teacher and Principal. Completed enrolment forms must be returned to the school by Monday, the 4th March.
Enrolment forms for St. Joseph’s GNS will be available from next Monday, 4th February and when completed must be returned to the school by Monday, the 4th March. Enquiries can be made to the school between 9.00am and 11.30am from Monday to Thursday on 885399.
The local Kilmacow Montessori School is also taking enrolments at this time.
Table Quiz - The next table quiz for this season in the Fox’s Den will take place on Monday next, 4th February. The quiz is for Kilmacow Soccer Club. Kilmacow FC has been in existence since 1971 and currently has two junior teams and five schoolboys’ teams. The schoolboys’ teams are in each age group from U11 to U15. The club also caters for 5 to10 year olds every week. With all these teams to look after a lot of finance is needed. This table quiz will help to pay the bills. The Club is looking forward to a good turn out for the quiz and appeals to players, parents of the schoolboys, friends and people of Kilmacow to support.
Bee keeping Course - The South Kilkenny Beekeepers Association will hold a course in bee-keeping for beginners in Kildalton College, Piltown, commencing in mid February. The cost is €70 which includes one year’s membership of the Federation of Irish Beekeepers, insurance and a monthly information booklet. The closing date for applications is is Friday, 8th February. Saturday Club - The Saturday Club for children aged between 3 years and 12 years is back in the Community Centre, Kilmacow. It runs from 10.00am to 1.00pm each Saturday and the cost per child is €10. Kilmacow Camogie Club Registration - Kilmacow Camogie Club will hold its registration night in the Community Centre, Kilmacow on Friday, 8th February. The cost per member is €25 or €50 for a family.
The registration fee includes insurance and registration for all tournaments. New players from aged 6 years to adult are welcome. The club would also welcome offers of help in coaching and other duties.
Kilmacow Gym and LibraryThe gym at the Community Centre is open from 8.30am each day. New members are welcome and patrons can avail of the facilities there on a pay as you go basis. Personal programmes can be arranged.
There is an additional stock of books in the Community Library and people are welcome to use this service in the Community Centre.
Kilmacow Hurling & Football Club Registration - Kilmacow GAA Club will host its registration night for its adult and juvenile section from 7.30pm to 9.00pm on Friday, 8th February in the Community Centre. Juvenile membership is €30 (€60 for a family), adult membership is €40 and adult player membership is €60.
Kilmacow Lotto - The winning numbers in last week’s lotto were 4, 12, 19 and 21. There were five Match 3 winners. The Jackpot for next Thursday night is €12,600.
