Anyone who would like to take part in helping to develop a County Kilkenny Plan for Suicide Prevention is invited to attend a community planning meeting in Mooncoin GAA Club on November 21 at 7.30pm.

The plan is being developed by Lifeline Kilkenny and the aim of the event is to share ideas and views on how the county can take this step towards community resilience.

This meeting is for over-18s only. A meeting will also be held with youth groups.

It is proposed that a suicide prevention strategy would address environmental factors related to public mental health, known risk factors for suicide, and the community’s response to suicide.

It is also proposed that significant emphasis is placed on the structures required to oversee the successful implementation of the strategy in the short, medium and long term.
