HELP CANCER RESEARCH - A Shave or Dye event in aid of cancer research will take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Saturday, February 10th, starting at 9.30 p.m. Heads and beards will be shaved on the night, and an auction and raffle will also be held. All are welcome and all support in particular would be greatly appreciated.

GAA - The 2013 GAA season gets underway in earnest this coming weekend when both the senior and minor footballers begin their respective league campaigns. In senior football, Conahy face O’Loughlin Gaels in the opening round of the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Senior Football League in Jenkinstown on Saturday at 3.00 p.m. The minor footballers are in action on Sunday afternoon when they play host to Mooncoin in Jenkinstown at 2.00 p.m.

MEMBERSHIP - GAA club membership is also now due for the coming year. The rates for 2013 are unchanged from last year – a single person rate is €40, a married couple rate is €60, a student rate is €30, and a social member rate is €10. There is also the option of pre-ordering a Piltown Co-Op draw ticket for an additional €30 (€50 normal price). Standing orders forms are also available on the GAA Club website if anyone wishes to pay by such means.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED - Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club is looking for volunteers for its Club Functions Committee to assist with catering in the GAA Club House, particularly after games. Those interested in helping out should contact Nickey Brennan (087-0565000). The GAA Club is also seeking volunteers for it Social Committee which will be responsible for organising social functions in the GAA Club House for Members, Supporters and Parishioners. Those interested in helping out should contact Toddy Lacey (087-2672753).

 FANTASY CHELTENHAM - Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club is participating in this year’s Fantasy Cheltenham Fund-Raising event which is organised once again by the Erin’s Own GAA Club (Castlecomer). Tickets will be on sale in the GAA Club House and from Committee members over 
the coming weeks. Players and supporters are encouraged to only purchase tickets from Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club.

LOTTO RESULTS - The numbers in the recent Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club Lotto draw were 6, 23 and 24. There was no jackpot winner so the consolation prize winners were Helen Cahill, Agnes Scariff Lalor, Eyvone Roche, Eugene Butler and Helen Webster. The promoters’ prize winners were Helen Cahill, Margaret Buggy and Catherine Carroll. This week’s jackpot now stands at €5,000.

CONAHY COMMUNITY PLAYGROUP CLOTHES COLLECTION - The clothes collection in aid of Conahy Community Playgroup continues today (Wednesday) and early tomorrow morning. Unwanted clothes, bags, belts, shoes, bed linen, towels, curtains, books and mobile phones will be accepted. Bags can be left into Conahy Hall today or early tomorrow morning. Your support will be gratefully appreciated for this very worthy cause.
