PRESENTATION- Taking place in Glenmore hall on Friday 8th February will be a medal presention for three of the Glenmore junenile teams. Medals will be presented to the under-10, under-16 and minor teams and it is all happening from 7.30pm to 9pm and all are welcome to attend.
GAA- The Glenmore hurling and football club held their annual general meeting in the club’s new facilities in Pairc Na Ratha last Friday night and there was a large number of people in attendance. The outgoing Chairman, Frank Kirwan welcomed everyone, and thanked all the trainers, selectors and mentors for all their hard work and efforts throughout the year. He congratulated Eoin Murphy on his second All-Ireland Kilkenny Senior hurling medal win and congratulated Ger Aylward for his successes in county under 21 competition. Frank spoke of the tremenous work done by many people in bringing the facilities to its current position, for without it, the huge advance state of the grounds, clubrooms and indoor astro turf would not have been possible. Frank spoke of the huge fundraising efforts and thanked everyone involved in the silver circle, golf classic and table quiz throughout the year and for everyone who supported all the fundraisers. He thanked the club’s main sponsor Duggan Transport, for their contuined generous financial support, the lifeblood of a club. Frank paid compliment to Brendan Maher Construction for the very fine workmanship on the new clubrooms and building. He thanked everyone who gave of their time in the building and construction stage of the clubrooms, those who did the painting, those who put up the boundary railings and fencing, those who made the goal posts and erected them and in recent time those who did the planting of the beech hedging and he also thanked all those who are part of the cleaning rota. Frank also congratulated Liam Hennessy, Dean Croke and William Treacy on their great win with the Good Counsel College in secondary schools competition. The minutes of the previous AGM were read by the outgoing Secretary Noel Doherty and adopted. The Treasurer Martin Freyne gave a very comprehensive overview of the club’s finances which are found to be very favourable. The juvenile club Chairperson Ray Byrne gave an account of the year’s activities and the successes of the year’s competitions. The Chairman thanked everyone for their attendance and closed the meeting.
FASHION SHOW - The Glenmore GAA club are holding a fashion show on Friday 22nd of March in the Rhu Glen and tickets at €10 each are currently on sale and SOUTH KILKENNY HISTORICAL SOCIETY - A talk will be taking place on Thursday night at 8pm in the hall across from Mullinavat church on the subject of ‘’the GAA Oral History Project’’ and all are welcome to attend. The speaker will be Regina Fitzpatrick and admission is €5 and members are free.
